Screw Suh. The Lions should have traded him in the offseason when these shenanigans started so they could have at least got something in return for him.
Have fun playing for the Jets next year.

I feel like Max is a year or two away from an implosion that will make Verlander's implosion seem mild by comparison. I'll take Price for next year and see what happens elsewhere.

If it wasn't for Petr Klima busting, the Wings would have drafted Jaromir Jagr instead of Keith Primeau. So, thanks for being a bust Petr Klima.

There is one for recruiting, but in the interview, Bacon seems to suggest there is one also for the search committee... I don't really know though.

I think this news that they reached out to Les Miles, means Harbaugh told UM no over the weekend. It's what most of us had predicted, that Jim wants that Superbowl ring. I'm fine with Les Miles, and would really love to see him bring in Bo Pelini has is defensive coordinator. EDIT: CB beat me to it. I don't think so... IIRC, John U. Bacon mentioned that all sides are heading into a "dark period," whatever that means (http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/clip/10929709/john-u-bacon-on-michigan). So my guess is that Michigan took their top 6-8 options, and formally "reached out" to them all at once to cover their bases. Just like the Duke coach that Gil Brandt tweeted today turned down Michigan (which I have a hard time believing), it was probably less of an offer and more of a "hey, would you be interested in this job?" inquiry. And because everyone else is doing it, here's my coaching big board: 1. Jim Harbaugh 2. Bob Stoops 3. Tom Herman 4. Les Miles 5. ...?

Funchess is gone - declaring for the draft. It's tough to imagine him succeeding at the NFL level unless he plays way more physical than he did this year... That may have just been apathy though.

was thinking about this on the way to work in regards to Harbaugh: why would he go to a team(traded)where they would more than likely have to give up multiple 1st rounders and probably a few 2nd rounders you're screwed for a few years, unless you can make something out of those middle to later round draft picks I'm pretty sure he wants to stick it to the 49'ers at this point, why would he agree to something that would help the 49ers out? I'm sorry... Who is giving up multiple first and second round picks for a head coach? I think the price the Browns and 49ers had in place last year was a 2nd round pick. With all the drama and losing Harbaugh has created this season, the 49ers will be lucky to get a 4th round pick for him... Everyone knows that with how hostile the situation has become in SF, he isn't going back to the 49ers next year, so why trade for a coach who they are going to fire regardless?

It appears Karmanos has a fetish for moving teams named the Whalers.
I'll take teams in Seattle, Quebec, and Hartford over Arizona, Miami, Las Vegas, Raleigh, etc...

Thanks hoff and d2o for getting this place up and running.
Question... Is there a way to have threads open to the most recent page as oppose to always opening to Page #1? Opening a thread on a phone and then flipping through to the last page gets old...

Yeah, that's very, very wrong. The top WC team is the #5 seed. The last division winner is considered the #4 seed. So the home game goes to the division winner. If the Lions want this season to have any potential of a playoff run, they need to win at Green Bay... So in other words, they are fucked and they will probably play a wild card game in Seattle. I agree with that. Somebody has to win the east so why not Philly at this point? We needed the Eagles to beat the Seabags. The only good thing to potentially come out of that result is if the Lions were able to win out (lolz), they'd be in line for the #1 seed in the NFC.

I only follow the Pistons from a distance, but I'd prefer them to move Monroe for a PG/pick at the deadline and draft the best available big man out of Okafor/Towns/Turner and pair them with Drummond, since it looks like Mudiay is the only guard worth a lottery pick, and I don't think the Pistons can count on the lottery playing out in their favor.

I really like the Tatar/Datsyuk pairing Babcock has been rolling with lately... Their styles compliment each other well: Tatar takes a lot of chances and isn't afraid to shoot the puck, and Datsyuk is still the best passer in the NHL.

Typically for a prospect to "bust," he needs to be taken with a high draft pick; and (fortunately) the Wings haven't had too many of those in my lifetime (I'm 25). So Grigorenko is really the only Wings' prospect in my lifetime that had a large amount of buzz behind him and never produced anything on the ice... but that was more of a tragedy than an outright bust.
In the same vein, Jiri Fischer was only just starting to live up to his potential when he suffered his heart attack.
But in a strictly on-ice sense, Johan Franzen is probably the closest thing to a "bust" the Wings have had, and that's only because of the contract they gave him.

I've been to 4 games this year, and the Joe is usually around 80% full. The lower-bowl usually has a much higher % of empty seats compared to the upper bowl, so it looks worse than it really is on TV.

Well, Igor Grigorenko comes to mind... Though I'm not sure if that's what you had in mind when you made this thread.

Solid win last night against a bad Dallas team.
Wings are now 1 pt behind the Habs and 4 pts behind Stevie Y's Lightning squad for the division lead, with a game in hand on both.
Stephen Weiss with 9 points in his last 6 games since returning to action and the young guns continue to roll.

I will continue to believe Jimmy is the man until he comes out and publicly says he's not interested.
As for the tidbit from Hackett that the players will know who the new coach is when they come back from Christmas break, it sorta lines up with the 49ers schedule. The winter semester at UM starts on January 7th and the 49ers regular season ends December 28th. Even if they make a wild card game, that would play out on January 3/4. And if we make it past that point and the 49ers are still in the playoffs and Michigan still hasn't made a move at head coach, then the writing would be on the wall.
The real dilemma is a scenario where you have to make a move for a guy like Bob Stoops earlier in the process than Harbaugh becomes available...
