Should have also been unsportsmanlike conduct on Dez for running on the field with no helmet on to argue the call. This.

If Chip Kelly were to become available, I would fire Caldwell out of Allen Park with one of those circus cannons...

Cowboys play worse at home than they do on the road and the Lions typically play well in Dallas... I think they have a shot.

Of course, projecting the stardom of teenage soccer players is an exercise in futility, but a youngster having this kind of vision and passing ability on the field is remarkable and is a skill that doesn't change. He'll never be a Messi, Ronaldo, James Rodriguez, or Gareth Bale... but he could easily be a Cesc Fabregas type of set-up man who is capable of picking out that final ball.
I've certainly never seen an American soccer player with that sort of feel for the game.

Man this is so awesome. I bet Shane Morris is fucking pumped. Broads on campus better watch out. Shane Morris is running around campus with the largest possible boner probably rubbing it on anything that moves. He didn't need Viagra because he got a different blue pill. I bet his sperm are about as accurate as his arm is.

there goes the theory about Jim coming home being a cash grab or simply the best available option... He wants to be here.

Stafford would be fine as a game manager... if the Lions took him in the third round and were paying him Alex Smith money. The truth is, the fact that he was a #1 overall pick and the Lions are paying him like a top #10 QB changes the expectations of what he is supposed to be. I disagree with that all day. If he sucks, he sucks. If he's good, he's good. Tom Brady was a low round pick and that fact didn't win them super bowls, his great play did. Stafford's problem is he plays inconsistent. One week he's all world and puts up a ton of points. Next week he's throwing balls into the ground. That shit needs to stop, period. The expectations are over inflated because he has those inconsistent games where he looks like a world beater one week and next week looks like JoeHar. Is he over paid? Probably. Does that matter on the field? Nope. I would argue that it does in the NFL. If I pay you to be one of my three best players, then I expect you to be one of my three best players. Calvin is regularly one of the Lions' best players. Suh is often the best player on the Lions' defense. Stafford is rarely one of the Lions' three best players on a given Sunday. Because you have a finite amount of money you can use to field an NFL roster, if I can find someone who can bring what Stafford does at half the price, that gives me more resources to go out and field a better team around an average QB. The argument of Matthew Stafford vs. Alex Smith or Carson Palmer is one thing, it's a whole 'nother deal when it's Matthew Stafford vs. Alex Smith, Brandon Flowers, AND Justin Houston. Now if this was baseball and contracts were just a number and you can go bonkers with the rest of the roster, it's a different story and I'd be more inclined to agree with your point.

Because that's the way the world works?
When I'm rummaging through the kitchen at work and I find the last can of Chef Boyardee in the cupboard, I'm pretty happy with my find and I'll eat that shit up. However, if I go to a nice Italian restaurant and pay $30 for a pasta dish and they tried to serve me that same can of Chef Boyardee, I'd be pissed off.
If I spent $15 to watch the latest Ninja Turtles movie in IMAX 3DDD, I'd be unhappy. But a 1AM Netflix, drunk-viewing with some friends, then it's actually a pretty good time.
The same thing is true with any athlete. I don't expect Corey Fuller to put up Calvin Johnson numbers. But say some asinine franchise like the Jaguars thinks Corey Fuller is the next Odell Beckham Jr. and pays him $15 million dollars a year, their fans are going to expect him to replicate similar results to ODB, regardless of whether or not that's fair.
So if Stafford didn't want people comparing him to the NFL's best QBs, he shouldn't have signed the big contract like one. It's all about perception, expectation, and return-on-investment, and thus far, the return on Stafford is a lot less than what the Lions have put into him.

I don't want Suh (or Raiola) anywhere near this team next year. I'll reinvest his money into Revis and draft a DT.

It'd sure be nice to have a QB that didn't have the accuracy or pocket awareness of Ray Charles.

Brandon was years away from being fired until he went quiet for 72 hours, sent Hoke out there like a sacrificial lamb to face the media on the following Monday, and then proceeded to throw him under the bus in a statement that he released at 2AM like a wormboy.
And it's pretty clear that if Brandon was still here, Jim Harbaugh would not even consider coaching under him. Once Brandon dug his own grave, someone in the administration (Schlissel? Someone whispering in his ear?) knew exactly what needed to be done to bring Harbaugh in. They brought in his dad's old pal in Hackett as temp AD, got lucky the 49ers bottomed out, and ponied up the cash. They got a little lucky for sure, but they played their hand perfectly.

Let's be honest. Hoke and Co. was never going to lead Michigan to any sort of football relevance. That disaster of a season we just suffered through cleaned out an incompetent coaching staff and several cancers in the Athletic Department. It was painful to go through, but it we'll probably look back and say that it was the best thing that could have happened.

Yep... Rumor has it that UA and Adidas are in a bidding war to sway Miami away from Nike and that will be the next shoe to drop, which makes sense if that's the path they're looking to pursue.

It might be wishful thinking. I really don't know anything about the college football apparel dynamics. I have heard that Adidas is losing money on the contract, and that they don't care. That's how desperate they are to keep Michigan. This is going to be one of THOSE posts, but I (sorta) work in the industry and have acquaintances inside Adidas. The prevailing theory is that, with Under Armor coming on strong with the kids, Adidas was starting to secede from college sports altogether and focus on their pro sports contracts (NBA, NHL, and MLS) and workout apparel (under their Reebok brand). That's why they gave up their contracts with ND and Tennessee so easily... But then they went out and poached Arizona State from Nike, and everyone inside the industry did a double take... The thought is now that Adidas is trying to replace it's traditional schools (Michigan, ND, etc) with schools that will allow Adidas to use their crazy uniforms and not have their fans bitch about them, in an attempt to regain some of their "cool." Schools like Arizona State are much cheaper than Michigan and give their apparel companies much greater freedom to promote their own brand.

A move back to Nike probably won't happen. It's too much money to walk away from, and Nike won't come close to paying what Adidas pays. The current contract is going to end in summer 2016, so they have one more football season under Adidas anyway. There's no guarantee Adidas is even going to offer a similar deal this time around.

Brian Cook from MGOBLOG went to 99%. I'm so wet. The meltdown that will ensue if this doesn't happen is going to be epic. True, but that meltdown will happen on his website, so he knows that better than anyone.

Levy, Tate, and Ansah should have made it. Maybe getting snubbed for the popularity contest will give them a little something extra to play for on Sunday.
