3 years and about 1000 hits younger. The pounding staffdong takes is going to have him retiring much earlier than Brady or Peyton is/was able to. Carr with 8 years under his belt is going to be a monster. Arm talent diminishes at a much slower rate than athleticism. Stafford has another 10 years of playing at a high level ahead of him if he stays healthy. Carr probably has 10-11 good years left because his arm isn't as strong (when you don't have a Favre/Elway/Brady/Rodgers arm, things can go south quickly when you reach the wrong side of 35... see Brees this year) And Carr has been impressive, but he's also had a much better team around him.

Carr is only 3 years younger than Stafford. Stafford just finished his 8th year and Carr finished his 3rd. People forget Stafford is so young because he's been in the league forever.

I would prefer to take a DE like Taco Charlton in the first round and take a Boldin-like flyer on a WR like Desean Jackson, Pierre Garçon, Andre Holmes, or even Kendall Wright than spend pick #21 on Corey Davis or John Ross.

The fact they got anything for Van Noy is pretty amazing... they signed a better linebacker off the street in Josh Bynes.

I don't know how you can be optimistic until they have a good coach. That's basically the reason for next season. I think Caldwell gets fired after they go 6-10 and we bring in someone. Whether that's Patricia, McDaniels, Jim Bob Coots, or a broom with a bucket on top of it, it will be an upgrade over Caldwell.

I'm still optimistic about the Lions... not for this season, but moving forward. Most of Bob Quinn's moves have panned out. Marvin Jones looks like a steal of a FA signing, Dekker has been pretty solid all things considered (he is a rookie LT playing next to the worst LG in football at the moment in Laken Tomlinson), and he's found some nice depth pieces in the later rounds with guys like Dahl (play him) and Washington. He signed players like Slay, Riddick, and Martin to extensions at the right time and it looks like players like Reiff and Ansah are going have a quiet year and so he should be more affordable for the long term this offseason.
Another offseason of solid moves with getting some help at LB and DE along with a new coach like NE's Matt Patricia and the Lions might be onto something.

I'm not interested in any of the free agents outside of maybe Okposo (putting him, Larkin, and AA on a line might be the fastest line in the history of hockey), but he's probably going to be too expensive.
I'd like to see Kenny get on the phone with Colorado and see what it would take to get Matt Duchene.

TJ Jones?
Rumors are that Kerley (who they signed earlier this year) is hurt, which explains why they just signed Roberts (kick returns) and are looking at Boldin to fill in on passing downs.

Hell yes, Foxes! I'm an Arsenal fan, but if it can't be us (it rarely is), then good for them.
Just as amazing, how did Spurs finish that game with 11 men?

If Rudock turns out to be the 2nd coming of Shaun Hill, I'll be happy. Just be a reliable backup who can come in and manage a game if Staffdong goes down. That's it.

I'd break the bank for Josh Norman if I were the Lions and Bob Quinn... It's what the Pats did/tried to do with Revis.

I'm sure last offseason Pats fans were totally fine with signing little-known Dion Lewis to replace Ridley as oppose to Demarco Murray, McFadden, Mathews or some other better-known FA...
Seriously, it's a one-year, incentive-based contract for a 3rd/4th string RB. He's still young, he doesn't have much wear on the tires, and he's finally healthy after tearing his ACL in 2014. Besides, Ridley is a better fit for replacing Abdullah or Riddick if they go down than someone like Alfred Morris, who has a lot of wear and can't catch worth a damn.
I just don't see the point of freaking out about someone who likely doesn't make it out of training camp.

Athanasiou plays 6:49 while Glendening gets over 17:00 minutes. It just makes no sense. This. You could make the argument Athanasiou is one of the Wings' 6 best players right now. Last night, (I believe) he drew the penalty Larkin scored on. The game before he scored a breakaway goal. But no, keep playing him on the 4th line for less than 8 minutes a game for a 4th line hustle player (or Helm). I don't mind Glendening as a player for what he is, but he's given far too much run lately.

With Gase and Hue off the market, better to let Caldwell boob it up for another year than to hire some bottom of the barrel coach and give him 3 years to dick around before firing him.

I was a Kirchner fan at first because I like the way Seattle built their team, but after reading up on him I cooled on him in a big way... He was involved with scouting PRO personnel with Seattle since 2010, which means he was the guy responsible (or at least, partially responsible for) for some really dumb decisions made by the Seahawks. Those moves include signing both Matt Flynn and Sydney Rice to huge contracts, trading a first round pick for Percy Harvin, trading ANOTHER first round pick for Jimmy Graham, letting Golden Tate walk, signing Cliff Avril, etc... Granted, that means he was also partially responsible for trading for Marshawn Lynch and signing Michael Bennett, but that miss rate on huge, splashy moves and trading multiple first round picks for receivers was a HUGE red flag. Drafting Russell Wilson won them 2 (cough) I mean 1 Superbowl. They've drafted really well, but you're right the Jimmy Graham for Unger trade could be the worst move of last off season. Yeah, but like I said, Kirchner was in charge of PRO personnel in Seattle, which (at least to my limited knowledge) would implicate that he wasn't really involved with college scouting or the draft in a significant way... So I don't know how much credit Kirchner actually gets for Seahawks draft picks like Wilson, Sherman, Chancellor, etc.

I don't think the Bob Quinn hire is a home run like a Duke Tobin or Eric DeCosta would have been (but they appear to be deemed untouchable), but out of the 4/5 candidates the Lions interviewed, I liked Quinn the best. I like his background in scouting both pro and college players, I like that he was one of the few people Belichick would allow in the tightly sealed Pats draft room, and I think his track record of mid-season moves for the Patriots (such as trading a 6th for Akeem Ayers AND a 7th) is promising... though, I realize a New England transplant has yet to really succeed elsewhere. ... Also, this is a completely superficial reason, but he looks like a Belicheck guy. I mean, I guarantee you that dude didn't know it was team picture day when he walked in the building. He was too busy looking at film of the Titans practice squad to even pick out an ironed shirt. My head tells me this guy was a man after Belichick's own cold heart: ...that's about as glowing of a review you're going to get from Ol' Sweatshirt Cutoffs.

I liked the Seattle guy better. I just hope that Quinn hasn't piggybacked off of Bill Belichick, and this is a mistake. I was a Kirchner fan at first because I like the way Seattle built their team, but after reading up on him I cooled on him in a big way... Dery threw out Chris Polian on twitter as a guess. That's the one person I don't want.
