The NFL Network had a really good show on last night, about all the 2005 NFL draft flops. I'm not sure if this made me feel better or worse about the Lions 2019 draft (I think maybe a little better), because the theme of the show was basically nobody knows anything. It was actually refreshing to see the NFL network be real and take shots at itself, its league owners and GMs. Just a few notables from the 2005 NFL draft: Alex Smith #1, PacMan Jones, Braylon Edwards Troy Williamson, MIKE WILLIAMS, Matt Jones, and Cedrick Benson They had a pretty good segment with Matt Millen's son and Steve Mariaucci discussing how bad they didn't want Millen to take Mike Williams. I was devastated after that pick. I just wanted to turn off my tv. I’m definitely more of an offense guy but there were two or three defensive studs taken right after that pick. I kept thinking: which one of these studs are we going to get? Ware is probably going to be a HOF and while Merriman flamed out after a while he would have had decent years here. Derrick Johnston was the other one.

They didn’t. I’m sure if one came up on their board they would have but even before the draft they seemed to think the answer there was on the roster. They signed two UDFA offensive linemen. One seems to have been really sought after and talent. Maybe he can make the team there.

Looks like the site is about dead. Not that there has really been much to talk about. I don’t think anyone left really cares too much for the Pistons and their mediocrity.
I will say I really liked the Lions draft. If all you wanted were popular and ‘name’ guys overly talked about by tv and radio personalities then you hated this draft. BQ stuck to his board and his philosophy and got some talented and athletic guys.
The defense is going to be deep and they weren’t screwing around with TE. They’re going to find one. Seems like between FA, draft, and UDFA that there are 8-9 on the roster.
BQ is running at about a 68% clip with his drafts. Many of the picks we like now were hated by some fans on draft day. Give these guys a chance and see what happens on the field.

Should have traded him at the deadline two seasons ago.

Signed by the Lions WR Danny Amendola - 1-year, $4.5 million guaranteed CB Justin Coleman - Signing 4 year, $36 million contract with Lions EDGE Trey Flowers - Signing 5-year, $90 million deal with Lions ($56 million guaranteed) TE Jesse James - Signing 4-year, $25 million deal with Lions G Oday Aboushi - Signing 1-year deal worth up to $2 million Lions’ unrestricted free agents Re-signed LS Don Muhlbach RB Zach Zenner- Signed 1-year deal Signed elsewhere None Remain unsigned QB Matt Cassel RB LeGarrette Blount FB Nick Bellore TE Luke Willson TE Levine Toilolo WR TJ Jones OT Andrew Donnal DE Ezekiel Ansah DT Ricky Jean Francois LB Eli Harold LB Kelvin Sheppard CB Marcus Cooper CB DeShawn Shead Restricted free agents DE Romeo Okwara - Re-signed to a 2-year deal DE Kerry Hyder - Not expected to be offered tender Exclusive rights free agents DE Mitchell Loewen - Re-signed LB Steve Longa - Re-signed S Charles Washington - Re-signed Lions released WR Bruce Ellington G T.J. Lang LB Nicholas Grigsby S Glover Quin CB Nevin Lawson LB Trevor Bates Looks accurate to me. The backloaded at least three of these contracts and lessened the 2019 cap hit. After all that money they spent the estimate is that they still have around $32M in cap space. That tells me they have something cooking.

Not really the signing I was looking for but he’s a lot cheaper than the names that were on the market. If he was just going to retire anyway it seems like they could have got him a little cheaper.

So I'm helping my brother in law look for a house in Northville. We're looking at one house and the basement looks like it came out of a strip club. I look up who owns the house and sure enough the family owns four or five downriver strip clubs. Not to mention that the guy how owns this particular house is on trial for attempted murder. He nearly beat a cook at his restaurant to death with a baseball bat. I hope my brother in law ends up buying this house so we can have the family Christmas party in a strip club. I wonder how many dead hookers are buried on the property. Bonus!

I watched it. Not bad. Like the mandatory 2pt conversion and inside kick rules. Finally got a home team, eh?

At season's end, One of the big criticisms that both Harbaugh and Dantonio faced was about their coaching staffs. Dantonio shuffled his staff, re-assigning existing coaches to new positions, but keep them all. Harbaugh (after saying there would be no offseason coaching changes) has hired Gattis for OC/WRs, McDaniels for Quarterback coach and let Pep Hamilton go. Not to mention the voluntary departures of Mattison and Al Washington. Shaun Nua will replace Mattison. It will be interesting to see which program will be better off with the direction they chose. I’m going to say the one that didn’t just keep all the same people.

What a debacle. Flight pushed back again to 6:44 pm. Went to a gate to see if I could get rerouted. After 1.5 hours in line, rejected. Called their help center. Re ticketed for IAH via Denver. Gets me back to Houston by 6:30. Get to the gate and they close the door as I am standing their getting my boarding passes printed. So the gate agent suggests I go down to D6 for the standby list. Walk up to the desk and the agent says go ahead and board. This is your flight. Sure enough, I get on the plane and my phone buzzes with the text telling me my flight changed to 1:15. Guy next to me gets the same text. What was a full flight was less than half full. But I got home 6 hours later than booked, but six hours before the delay. Ridiculous.

Dang it's cold up here. This is why I never come to Michigan. Zero degrees when I got off the plane. WTF???? You must have brought it with you. It wasn’t like this.

Darrell Bevell the new Lions OC. Sounds like a rush heavy attack with some ply action coming. An experienced guy that Patricia can turn the offense over to and that can work within his philosophy.
I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. The league isn’t really doing smash mouth football right now.

This track coach walked up to me and asked with a straight face if one the girls there was my child. As if the one dark skinned black kid in the sea of 100 white kids wasn't a dead giveaway. Everyone is afraid to offend somebody.
