So, I may be going to myrtle beach...Wife wants to go, I really dont (based on my insane bias on the gulf of mexico which I love)...Any thoughts on where to stay, what to do, not go and not do? Was thinking of trying to rent a condo or cottage on or near beach as they seem cheaper than the hotels....Thoughts? www.vrbo.com/279610
We did this place 3 years in a row which is listed through VRBO, although had an in with the owner that allowed us to bypass VRBO, plus he's pretty flexible with us. Not fancy but great location! Surfside Beach just south of MB. Not so hectic as in the middle of MB. You can get south towards Murrells Inlet which is pretty cool or use the highway bypass to scoot around downtown MB & get to North Myrtle Beach area where plenty of action resides.
But the best part is just hanging on the beach. Cheap Beach bar within walking distance.
We always do Murrells Inlet. It has a boardwalk (called Marshwalk) with a number of Restaurants & Bars on it. Good selection from more upscale to burgers & beers. Always has music going on, day or night. You can cart your open beers up & down the boardwalk too.

Blake Countess visiting Rich Rod in Arizona. Makes sense, I could see it working. I guess Auburn was final destination. Malzahn says Countess has chance to be "phenomenal" for AU

Dave Brandon named CEO of Toys R Us. This means Michigan can subtract his new comp from what was remaining on his contract. Shouldn't have to pay him much. Look for Fireworks to be shot off from Toys R Us parking lots across America!

I know it probably doesn't really mean anything but with T Bay clamping down on the Habs & pulling into a tie with them, the Wings sure could make the division race interesting down the stretch if they pull out W's in the 3 games in hand they'll have & these coming games in Florida would be great place to get started.

i got bucky badger knockin'em off in da national semis..... I think Virgina has the better shot in the title game. Didn't Virginia lose their best player to injury awhile back & have suffered 2 losses since then?

The Detroit Red Wings have acquired right-handed shooting defenseman Marek Zidlicky from the New Jersey Devils for a conditional third-round pick in 2016. Zidlicky, 38, is in the final year of his contract, so he will be a rental. If the Red Wings reach the Eastern Conference finals, the Devils will get Detroit's fifth-round pick in 2015 as well. If the Red Wings reach the Stanley Cup finals, New Jersey gets Detroit's second-round pick in 2016 and that fifth-rounder goes back to Detroit. He's a mobile, puck-moving defenseman with a good, hard shot. He will upgrade an already strong power play that is ranked No. 1 in the NHL. Zidlicky (5-foot-11, 190) has four goals and 19 assists, along with a minus-7 rating in 63 games this season. The Red Wings tried to sign him as a free agent in each of the past two seasons but the native of the Czech Republic opted to re-sign with the Devils each time. He waived his no-trade clause to come to Detroit. Zidlicky is an 11-year NHL veteran who has 82 goals and 308 assists, along with a minus-67 rating, in 762 games. He has appeared in 38 playoff games, picking up one goal and 15 assists. The Red Wings tried to make a bigger impact move by acquiring Dion Phaneuf from Toronto but the Maple Leafs refused to assume a portion of his $7 million cap hit for the next six seasons. The Red Wings wanted him at $5 million per season.I know it was only 1 game but Zidlicky seemed to play with a bit of an edge last night. Not afraid to do a bit of hacking & whacking to get a players attention. As long as he doesn't get stupid, I like it.

You can deduct your expenses over a floor which is 7.5% of your income. 10% if you are under 65. Good luck with that!

Frickin' Stephen Weiss. Has a open goal & can't put it in. That miss was huge last night. I'm getting tired of him. Came out like a house on fire to start the year & has disappeared since. Gets manhandled too much.

Are there signs to get you through Cobo to the entrance of JLA? Haven't been inside Cobo in 30+ years
It's really easy to get through. Just follow the herd. We usually get there REAL early before the herd migration takes place. To get the cheap 3 dollar freebies you know. Of course then we pay the $4-$5 dollar premium for beer for 90 minutes. I know, not too intelligent!

I'm sure they'll be hanging with the victorious Sparty side postgame.

I always park at the parking structure on Fort and Washington, then walk through Cobo Hall to get to the Joe. Easy in and out. Are there signs to get you through Cobo to the entrance of JLA? Haven't been inside Cobo in 30+ years

The Parking ramp is a nightmare to get out of. While I like parking at Nemo's & using their shuttle, they don't always get to the Joe as early as I like. Any suggestions on great parking for the Joe?

Weber done got fucked by OSU. Good luck with trying to recruit Cass Tech Urban. 2016 class is the big test for Hardballs. Not worried much about things until then.. Wilcher really went off on Meyer on the radio regarding Weber. Not sure if it was sincere or a power trip thing to have Urban come back & show some respect to Wilcher. Hope it was sincere for Weber's sake. It will be interesting going forward though.

frickin' Wings do it again v. the Avs. Nice to keep the win's coming after the layoff.
Much talk during the game regarding the Outdoor game next year at Coors Field & the chatter of a "Rivalry" alumni game. Not your typical cast of 50-60 something's but guys from the heated rivalry days. Although other than Lemieux I can't imagine too many guys hold any major grudges.

No budging by the powers that be regarding the College Football playoffs. Let's see how nasty the NFL gets with this! Had read earlier that at some point they may consider expanding their playoffs with another wild card game, & if so they threatened to pit it on the Monday night opposite the College Football Championship game. Also, Rece Davis taking over for Chris Fowler on GameDay. Have always like Davis since his local days here in Flint. He's not afraid to give his opinion even if it bucks the norm. Hope that doesn't change. Fowler dropping GameDay to concentrate on the #1 announcer slot. Not really a major fan of Fowler in that role, but maybe he'll keep improving. He did well in the GameDay chair for many years!

So after the Perry commit Rivals writes that the Wolverines move up to #72 in the country 1 spot behind Western Michigan. How tasty is that!!?? Of course that's based upon 5 fewer commits than any other school ranked higher............so we've got THAT going for us......which is nice!

So if O$U doesn't have the postseason success is Weber firm on staying a Buckeye? I say no.

Ya. They are great at developing generational talents that dropped in their lap with the number one overall pick. I'd say both of these statements are true. I'd say the jury is still out on how well their "home grown" talent develops. Hank & Pavel were just great picks.

The Troll is not taking this well at all. He keeps telling everyone they got in a bidding war with an NFL team and the salary is over $10 million per. That seems to be making him happy. Then he ran over here when he heard Oakland supposedly is meeting meeting with Harbaugh. I should have just shown him Ball's Wikipedia page. I just heard a woman who isn't a football fan ask him how he is taking this Harbaugh thing. That discussion then morphed into a debate between these two about how his salary is higher than that of a professor. Of course they had to throw in tuition rates because that's relevant. According to John U Bacon he's calling for the $48-$49 million for 6 not to be true, more like 8 year deal putting the salary in the $6-$6+ million range.
