I still can't fucking believe that happened. I keep replaying it in my mind with different results. Dumb. Oh well, I suppose that's why we watch sports. Was thinking an 8-4 year, and they seem to have a good shot at 9-3, so I'll live. Sucks to be that close to a win, though.

Henning has said that in 2016 the Tigers are all in. If that is the case and they open up the Illitch bank, why in the world would they keep Ausmus. He has not proven he can handle being a manager at the major league level. If they were willing to blow this thing up and sell anyone with market value, then I could see him staying on. The Tigers are taking a very big risk with keeping Ausmus and letting a first year GM make huge calls on free agents. The Tigers are at a crossroads with this particular team. Their stars are all over 30 and make a lot money, this is not the recipe for success. So, we kind of addressed all these things separately, though not from that particular angle (which is a good one, BTW). I will say this...a lot of people seem to like to bag on Henning, but he came on and talked to us for like 45 minutes last night, and I think he was pretty spectacular. I'd never talked to him before, and he did us a pretty big favor. You can listen here badhopradio.podomatic.com/entry/2015-10-14T21_12_28-07_00

I almost forgot the best thing this turd cutter said today. He says he would bet money that Jim Harbaugh will be the next coach of the Lions. He says Harbaugh and Ford Jr are great friends. The way he talks, you would think they were having sex. They haven't even faced Harbaugh yet but he needs Harbaugh gone immediately.

Win or lose, MSU will play much better than they have all season. UM hasn't faced a 5th year senior QB yet. Cook will not make the mistakes that these other inexperienced QBs have all made. I'm in the same boat. I think Michigan has been able to take a lot of chances in the secondary so far this season because they haven't really faced a QB who can make them pay. I don't think Cook is going to pick them apart, but it wouldn't shock me if he throws a couple of TDs. It feels to me like the team who scores the first TD will win this game. I don't like Michigan's chances if they have to come from behind.

So hey guys. I'm still trying to get my radio show into proper podcast form, but for now, if you're interested, you can download the first two shows here and here. Some NSFW language, and the transitions from music to talking are really rough...not sure how to fix that. I'm not working the board. I tried listening to it on my computer but it says I dont have the right player. What do I need? Thanks for the attempt! At this point I think you just need to download the audio and play it whatever media player you have. I'm working to get it on iTunes soon, though, so you may just want to wait for that.

So Logan Tuley-Tillman used his phone to record some people having sex, without the woman's knowledge, and then sent it to someone else. That'll get you kicked off a team.

Issac looks like a total pile of shit though. That guy was a rating miss. How about Derrick Green, #1 RB in the country. and people were pissed when we gave local kid Drake Johnson an offer...he is by far our best option. Rivals RB ratings from 2013: 1 - Derrick Green 5* 2 - Thomas Tyner 5* 3 - Greg Bryant 5* 4 - Ty Isaac 5* 5 - Derrick Henry 4* 12 - Ezekiel Elliot 4* 31 - R.J. Shelton 3* 37 - Deveon Smith 3* Why do people keep talking about Peppers as the latest C Wood? C Wood was a lock down corner. Banana peppers is closer to a linebacker than a lock down corner. It's 95% wishful thinking, because he's the most athletic DB they've had since Woodson. It is a tiny bit relevant, though, because Woodson was sort of a hybrid safety/linebacker when he was playing with the Packers. Also, the game is very different now than in 1997...back then Peppers would be playing corner for sure. Now, with the abundance of spread offenses and formations, the Nickel seems to be more important, and is probably where Woodson would play if he were in college.

I'll be pretty shocked if Michigan beats Northwestern by 12...that NU defense appears to be legit. The offensive woes are troubling, but I can't quite shake the notion that Michigan still hasn't really opened up the playbook. All year they've been trying to pound the ball up the middle, to little success, but I expect to see a lot more edge plays and some more intricate interior blocking soon.

Good riddance to 2015. Time to see what Avila can do as GM.

That was absolutely absurd. This coming after Al Avila praised Ausmus for how well he has worked with the young players. Then Norris throws the most pitches in a single inning since 2008.

I agree that he wasn't a positive for the team this year or last year, at least on the field, but evidently the front office thinks he's been a big positive off the field, and they are convinced he's learned from his mistakes. I'm not so sure...but there's something to be said for continuity, and not losing the clubhouse during a year this shitty is pretty commendable.

You won't catch me calling Ausmus a good manager, at least not right now, but I don't think retaining him is some sort of death knell for the future of the franchise. If they don't make the playoffs next year, it will probably be for the same reasons they sucked this year -- terrible pitching and poorly timed hitting.

I was surprised how much Castellanos revealed about the Rondon situation on Dery's show yesterday. couple things you'd think that he woudl have kept internal, but came out with. good stuff. I really wish people weren't sheep. 105.1's shows, topics and hosts are so much better I agree, though I get really frustrated with Drew Lane's sports "knowledge."

You guys nailed it. Also, that kid has a chance to be really effing good. Is Rondon done here? Another reliever bites the dust. I suspect they'll keep him around for another year because he's still making the MLB minimum and they need as many bullpen arms as they can get, but it wouldn't shock me at all if they try to pawn him off to another team. This is not the first time he's had these sort of issues, though it's the first time they've cropped up in the Majors. Sort of a classic case of a guy who has tons of natural talent, but isn't willing to do the work to get the most out of it. Congrats CB with your new radio gig. With your wealth of knowledge about the major & minor leagues you will be successful. You have the pennant races starting and some interesting drama plots working their way around both leagues, people should be interested. Also with the "Hot Stove" being being right around the corner and the many changes the Tigers should make in this off-season you should have plenty of listeners. I really appreciate the kind words. First show is gonna cover the recent events with the Tigers and the Whitecaps winning the Midwest League championship. I was asked which prospects took developmental steps forward this year, so I'm gonna talk about that (and the guys who went backward), and we're gonna talk about Finnish baseball, which I just discovered the other day, and it's absolutely batshit and amazing. Happy to cover any topics or answer any questions that people here might have, too.

I don't think Rudock is very good, but I also think it's possible that he just had a really bad game. I think he's capable of much better, and we'll probably see him be very good a few times before the season is finished. I think the offensive gameplan was deliberately bland, but one thing I can say for this team that we couldn't under Hoke...the big plays are there to be made. I think they lose to BYU next week, but I think they would beat them if the game were in another 6 weeks.

It's a tough time of year to start baseball talk. Most of us are checked out. Make sure you have those other topics ready. Will you be taking calls? Not planning on taking calls as of right now, but I'm hoping to have interviews and interesting guests. And honestly, I'm good with people not particularly wanting to listen to baseball chat right now...will give me some time to work out the kinks. As far as other topics go, the only restriction I've been given is that I shouldn't go too deeply into other sports, because there are other shows for that. Hoping to get a lot of questions and topics via email and twitter.

Thanks! I'm gonna focus on the Tigers at the MLB and minor-league level, but with two hours to kill I'll also touch on some national stuff. Also some scouting and sabermetric stuff, and then probably some non-sports shit like movies and music and video games, depending on who I happen to be talking to that week.

So I've been given the opportunity to host my own Internet radio show about baseball. It begins in a few weeks and it'll air every Wednesday from 8-10 PM on www.caveradiobroadcasting.com/It's a small thing right now, but I'm hoping it'll grow into something decent. The studio is in Redford, so if any of you guys ever want to come in and talk about baseball, just let me know. Also looking for anyone who may want to be an advertiser or sponsor, if you have any ideas. Thanks! _
