Saturday and Sunday are playoffs. On top of that, they aren't going to announce him until he talks to Caldwell and makes a decision there.

It was said on the radio that Quinn was meeting with Caldwell tonight, and press conference would be Monday or Tuesday.

Yeah it's pretty common practice that in the NFL the game comes first.
Having a presser on a playoff game day would have been frowned upon.
The only time you do something on game day is you are either trying to one up the league. Or you are trying to sneak something in where it will be quickly forgotten.

Wow, I agree with Flem for a change... Pollux is being one of those annoying idiots who calls into sports talk radio shows right now...

I think it's one of two things with Quinn: He's either is bringing a coach with him (like Josh McDaniels) or he will keep Caldwell and evaluate after one season. I don't think he'll fire Caldwell just to have an open search and to hire anyone.

It was two days ago. This is the off season. Accorsi announcement was today Mayhew was fired before the London game. Why did it take months to hire a replacement who should have been available the day Mayhew was fired? That's my issue. Whichever person they hired should have been here at the beginning of November in order to have adequate time to evaluate. He has to evaluate a coach he never saw coach. He has to evaluate the entire front office. College football ends today. He is supposed to be getting ready for the draft now. Instead of doing that, he has to evaluate and should be hiring an entirely new scouting staff. This is stuff that could have been mostly resolved before he started Christmas shopping.

It's like two days, on a weekend, when he probably wants to talk to the current head coach before he does it. Could you be any more of a woman about this? Things don't happen at the speed of light in the off season, this your first one? You're the one who is whining. Generally if somebody is hired they have a presser. (No matter what time of year it is) Now I understand it was late on Friday when they worked out the details. I still wanted to hear something. Boo hoo if you think wanting too much. Waiting until Monday or Tuesday to get introduced is dumb. Especially with the speed of information these days. Instead of hearing reports on rumors from unnamed former and new colleagues i'd just like to hear it from him. The NFL has windows where they don't want teams having press conferences during the playoffs. The fact that pen was put to paper on Friday night and the press conference is at 2PM today is not a big deal at all. Also, when Grigson took over in Indy, he didn't fire Caldwell for 6 days. So just chill, til the next episode.

The main thing I want to see or hear at this point is names changing on this list. I assume that will take time though.

I would think during the season is most logical time to do it. All that time they spent watching college players from Aug to Dec on your team's behalf is wasted.

If you think about it, one of the things it does is keeps a team from interviewing their rivals front office people during the season just to get info, which makes sense. As for scouting, even when an organization changes GMs, the scouting staff will remain in place until after the draft. That is when you generally see changes in that area.

Quinn looks so young. I hope 4 years from now we aren't doing a side by side of his face today compared to his face after 4 years with The Lions like they do with Obama.

I just hope 4 years from now we're not all saying it was all Bill Belichick. I do have some concerns that the New England front office is all Belichick and a bunch of minions. And we just hired one of the minions.

I still don't get why you see it as such a big deal. They hired him Friday afternoon, and on Monday at 2 they had a press conference. By the way, the Lions had sent a message out to reporters that there would be no press conference over the weekend. Also, I would consider it a professional courtesy to all other candidates out there to announce that the position had been filled when it was.

I'll be looking it up when I get off. Flem is on board so far because they went about doing things the right way. I want more info before we start pouring Kool Aid.

I hope pollux liked the presser! Nah. Still undecided. I'm going to be skeptical because it's not like this franchise hasn't dicked us all over in the past or anything.
