He's younger than me. Getting old sucks. Tell me about it... It's my bday weekend. In the past when I was asked what I wanted for my bday, I'd respond "a bj"... Now when I'm asked, I say "to relax". What the fuck happened. Guess I cant blame CJ for retiring

I liked the Seattle guy better. I just hope that Quinn hasn't piggybacked off of Bill Belichick, and this is a mistake.

I was a Kirchner fan at first because I like the way Seattle built their team, but after reading up on him I cooled on him in a big way... He was involved with scouting PRO personnel with Seattle since 2010, which means he was the guy responsible (or at least, partially responsible for) for some really dumb decisions made by the Seahawks. Those moves include signing both Matt Flynn and Sydney Rice to huge contracts, trading a first round pick for Percy Harvin, trading ANOTHER first round pick for Jimmy Graham, letting Golden Tate walk, signing Cliff Avril, etc... Granted, that means he was also partially responsible for trading for Marshawn Lynch and signing Michael Bennett, but that miss rate on huge, splashy moves and trading multiple first round picks for receivers was a HUGE red flag.

I don't think the Bob Quinn hire is a home run like a Duke Tobin or Eric DeCosta would have been (but they appear to be deemed untouchable), but out of the 4/5 candidates the Lions interviewed, I liked Quinn the best. I like his background in scouting both pro and college players, I like that he was one of the few people Belichick would allow in the tightly sealed Pats draft room, and I think his track record of mid-season moves for the Patriots (such as trading a 6th for Akeem Ayers AND a 7th) is promising... though, I realize a New England transplant has yet to really succeed elsewhere. ... Also, this is a completely superficial reason, but he looks like a Belicheck guy. I mean, I guarantee you that dude didn't know it was team picture day when he walked in the building. He was too busy looking at film of the Titans practice squad to even pick out an ironed shirt. My head tells me this guy was a man after Belichick's own cold heart: ...that's about as glowing of a review you're going to get from Ol' Sweatshirt Cutoffs.

Drafting Russell Wilson won them 2 (cough) I mean 1 Superbowl. They've drafted really well, but you're right the Jimmy Graham for Unger trade could be the worst move of last off season.

Yeah, but like I said, Kirchner was in charge of PRO personnel in Seattle, which (at least to my limited knowledge) would implicate that he wasn't really involved with college scouting or the draft in a significant way... So I don't know how much credit Kirchner actually gets for Seahawks draft picks like Wilson, Sherman, Chancellor, etc.

Something was leaked to the media today. After Ian Rapoport said that Caldwell isn't safe, ALL of the beat writers tone changed. They now are all saying that the Lions will look totally different now.

He has been sold for them in that defense.

Just sign Alabama, Ohio State, or Michigan State players and Quinn will be fine!

I just hope this guy does a better draft and has a better strategy than "best player available". That will go a long way to fixing things.

Best player available is a great strategy if you actually take the best player

Agree. At this point, who do you want instead? I think Caldwell is a moron, but I don't want josh mcdaniels either

I'd rather keep Caldwell, watch him fail, and get ahead of who we want than just can him just because and get stuck with someone. And if Caldwell just fail, well that's kinda good too.
Gase is gone, nothing else I feel signing up to out there

Gas will be fired after two seasons in Miami. He took by far the worst coaching job on the market right now. Even Cleveland have many positives if the dumb ass owner step back…

Even Cleveland have many positives if the dumb ass owner step back… I'd say Miami has pieces including a project QB for him to work on. Other than a little defense the cupboards are bare in Cleveland. Outside the box thinking in the front office won't make bad players better. Unless somebody really wants the chance to put their stamp on that offense I can't blame people for staying away. That and the owner was the first to start firing coaches after one year.
