Little over 5 minutes left in the game, and it's still scoreless. I did not expect that.

These playoffs have been a pathetic effort by the wings. Embarrassing.

I don't think it's an effort issue. They just don't have front line talent. This is all on holland.

That's why the PP sucks too. Add in inconsistent goaltending, and this is what you get. An average team playing about to their ability

I'd like to see the young play to get playoff experience, but the outcome wouldn't have changed. Holland is the worst GM in town by far.

Get Mantha and Pulkinnen on yhere for Richards and Andersson, play AA the amount he deserves and on the pp, play Smith, far and away the best dman on this team, on the pp and in games 1 and 2 and i think they probably would have won the series. They almost certainly would have had a better power play at the very least.

Zero first period goals by Wings in 5 game series. 1 for 25 on power play. No need to discuss anything else

I thought Ken Holland was smarter than that.

Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press: If Datsyuk leaves, the onus is on Holland to make the best of a tough situation and try to find a taker for Datsyuk's contract, clearing cap space. No team would have to pay the actual $5 million salary, just the hit. But even so, no lower-salaried team is going to take it without getting something in return. Chicago just had to surrender a 21-year-old high-end prospect to convince Carolina to take Bryan Bickell's contract. Carolina is one of a handful of teams that operate on the lower end of the salary cap. Arizona is another, as is Buffalo. But the Wings can expand their options if they decide to take a much lesser contract in return -- something in the $2-million range still would yield significant cap space to pursue the summer's prized free agent, forward Steven Stamkos.

It would be sweet if he traded pavel and a young guy for cap room and then wasn't able to sign anyone.

Also what they have to do is find teams dumb enough to take some other their dead weight contracts. They wouldn't be in this mess if Holland (or Ilitch) didn't sign so many bad contracts. Some of these young guys besides Larkin really need to step up next season or this team is in big trouble.

And they did!
Wings traded Pavel's $7+ million cap hit to the Phoenix Coyotes.
Sounds like Phoenix took it from the wings, to trade (up) draft picks but also because they needed to reach the cap floor?

You are right Freddie the Wings found their dummy. The Wings couldn't have done much better. It cost them 6 slots in the 1st round and got another draft pick out of the Coyotes. Maybe they will take a goalie & broken down d-man from the Wings too.

The NHL draft reminds me of the MLB, very hit & miss. I am one of the first ones to call out Holland on many of his bad deals & thought many times what the hell is he thinking. But, I looked at this trade from the Wings perspective, as pretty good. Although the Coyotes have had pretty good drafts recently and have a pretty good farm system. On Weber, some experts believe the fast pace NHL might have passed him by. They point to the playoffs against the Sharks as example, so a few around the NHL believe Nashville got the better of the deal.
