I don't understand your post. We lost to Ohio State this year. We beat a Number 5 team that was overrated. As far as rankings, MSU is not #3. I would rank as follows: 1 & 2 OSU/Oregon 3 Bama 4 TCU 5 MSU (at best)i agree with this...and find it amazing that you are turning it into a negative It's not a negative, but honestly did MSU take that victory yesterday, or was it more Baylor giving it away? I think it's the latter.

I don't disagree with that either...but you start lining up this resume and I think it's time to put to bed the "that's cute" company line that I continue to hear from spartan fans, national media, and of course our beloved meatchicken muggles. Not to mention what the program is doing it with. Waynes being a 2 star recruit speaks volumes, not only to the job that is being done in east lansing but also to the potential for improvement and thus elevated ceiling heights. (sorry hoff I'll stop with the ceiling after this post).

I would also add that if Conner Cook played even just an OK game rather than the abomination that took place that score is flipped going into the 4th quarter

I don't think there is a ceiling. I do think things will be much more difficult in the years ahead though.

It's probably easier for me to be right than wrong-they will have to out peform what they have done so far and odds and history say they will not. If I turn out to be wrong, I will be happy about it.

they are going to have to adjust that defensive scheme, with no waynes and no duuuuuuuzzi, that secondary is gonna be dicey

Ok, so you are just talking about this teams ceiling? This ceiling keeps moving all around. How is it moving? I have been very consistent. MSU is not going to beat the top ranked teams. The crap the bed in their big showcase games. Period. They beat OSU on a 23 game win streak ranked number two then beat number 5 ranked Stanford in the rose bowl. Then they just beat the big 12 champ who a lot of people thought should be in the playoff Don't see how that is shitting the bed at all

And Baylor played a cupcake schedule in a weak Big 12 conference. Saying they hit a ceiling does not mean they are not going to win games. Go back and read what I said. Perennial Top 25 Team, but not enough to win a National Championship. Nothing you posted changes that. They didn't win a national championship in 2013, and were not good enough to be in the conversation in 2014. I don't see that changing.

I think it's the latter. Didn't MSU do the same thing for awhile against Oregon? Played a good portion of the second half with their heads somewhere else? It's part of football. Keep the pressure on until someone blinks.

You are overlooking the importance of the moral victory/moral defeat aspect. Go read the Baylor fan sites. In their minds, they won that game in every way but the score, which is an insignficant statistic to them now.

MSU capitalized on multiple baylor mistakes.. they could have just as easily not scored

I laugh at any of the knocking of MSU and what they have done the past 4-5 years. It has been an exceptionally run program. I also scoff at any notion there is a ceiling, same things were being said to Oregon a short time ago. There is no ceiling, they can win it all.
I do think its going to be harder though, Urban Meyer is a coaching genius and his record is historical, they have to take them on every year now. Oh and if they beat OSU its not given they are going to win 6/7 against Michigan, in fact its highly unlikely to go on runs like that.
So yea the ceiling(meaning winning it all, getting to the playoff) got a little harder to obtain but thats it.

That basically shows me there is no ceiling.

I remember maybe 4 pass attempts at his side. One Petty dropped in, the others were short passes. Then he dropped a pick for the other one. Mostly remember drummond getting spun around in circles.
