if kronwall gets suspended for a game and no one notices, does it still count?

I think the wings are done (have been) as a real cup contender. When you can sign or trade for anyone meaningful each year it's hard to really compete. Fuck Weiss btw.

This team needs to be shaken up, but I don't think Holland has in in him at this stage to do anything like that. Pav and Z are at the end of their elite careers (Zetterberg is done, Pavel is so good with the puck he can survive losing another step so he probably has another year or two). A younger Holland wasn't afraid to move on from mainstays like Fedorov, Lapointe, or Primeau... Can you see Holland moving Kronwall (who sucked balls this year), Ericsson (who also sucked balls), Nyquist, or Helm? I can't. Hell, it will be a small victory if he lets Joakim Andersson walk.
If the Wings want to actually compete next season, they need 2 top D-men (Kronwall can't shoot anymore and being a small and slow d-man is a bad combination), a first rate goal scorer to put next to Pavel (Abs was a revelation this year, but he's not a sniper... Pulkinnen?), and to trim some of the dead weight off the roster. That includes:
-Weiss -Franzen -Cleary (obviously) -Andersson -Lashoff (better kids in Grand Rapids) -Zidlicky -Cole
Then you have the young guys who have potential but aren't quite there yet:
- Tatar (closest to figuring it out, but still makes boneheaded mistakes) - Sheahan (Stud, IMO) - Nyquist (completely disappeared the second half of the season, sucked in the playoffs... Maybe Jiri Hudler 2.0?) - Dekeyser (I know Wings fans like him, but he was dreadful in that Tampa series... May not be a top 4 defenseman after all) - Smith (Played well in the playoffs, but always in Babs' doghouse. Would like to see a new coach work with him) - Kindl (Might be Kyle Quincey 2.0... Could see him going to a bad team, play top 4 defense minutes, and suddenly getting decent/good) - Jurco (I liked his playoffs a lot... He skated hard, created turnovers, drew penalties... Offense was bad this year, but it feels like he could have a Glendenning type awakening next season.) - Pulkky (needs NHL time and the weight room)
Lastly you have the "maybe we need to look at moving on from them" players: -Miller (Sorry, but he doesn't bring anything to the table that Ferraro/someone else can't do, who is also younger/faster/cheaper) -Helm (No longer the fastest guy on the ice, has always had bad hands... How many good years does he have left?) -Ericsson (Brutal this season. Seems to have taken a step back... When's the point of no return?) -Quincey (The Wings best and most consistent defender this season... Stock is high. But can he repeat it? Will fans ever get over their beef?) -Howard (who knows)
TL;DR Roster needs a big overhaul and new blood, don't think we'll see many changes other than new coach and some vet signings.

ok, show me the historical data that shows you need to leave you feet while contacting the opposing players in order to get a suspension... youre really bad at debating

Agree with most of this. couple comments. You dont need to cut dead weight with Cole and Zidlicky, they were rentals, theyre gone. Nyquist is fine. I'd be thrilled, even if he did turn into the more mature version of Hudler ( who scored 30 goals this year). I'm not sure what to make of Dekeyser. He's in no man's land. he's not so young that you think he's going to make huge strides, but he's not really a "veteran" either. I think I'm done with Smith. he's older than Dekeyser and makes too many mental mistakes. Howard has to go, but I dont know that they'll be able to move him. Similar to the Franzen and Weiss situations. The team in general is in a really weird spot. They have a lot of really nice pieces, but they arent fitting together.

I get where youre coming from ( assuming you just mean they arent cup contenders) but I dont think you really remember how bad the true dead wings were.

DeKeyser has literally been in the league two years, he signed March 2013. Straight out of college.
He'll be fine. Most defenseman experience a learning curve. He didn't get the usual seasoning down in Grand Rapids.

Those Lightning home jerseys were like Toronto south last night. From a distance the only way to know we weren't playing the leafs was to see that it was a playoff game.

ok, show me the historical data that shows you need to leave you feet while contacting the opposing players in order to get a suspension... youre really bad at debating you're probably right, I'm not good at it ... however it doesn't change the fact that you think a player needs to have 2 skates off the ice if they are going to be suspended for a head shot

if the head shot is intentional? no. If it isnt, then yes, I believe you'd have to prove launching or charging to deserve a suspension.

So are they on the fence about Babs? I figured if he was gone it would have been the day after the loss. His post game pressers sounded like business as usual as he discussed what he and the team needed to do for next season.
