I kill Stafford for a lot of things but if you dont have him youre rebuilding or overpaying for another veteran services.....

I find myself agreeing with eruff a lot in this thread. Time to step away from the internet for a bit.

God you love how I taste I'm not bitter at all I just think the lions are fucking moronic for letting suh go. He's a once in in a decade type draft pick and they let him walk Yaaaaaaay ebron Ebron contract is ****. CJ contract is the one that's handcuffing the Lions. They had to let Suh walk. They had no choice. People complaining about them restructing Suh but they never told the entire truth to why the had to restructure him twice. CJ was one and Stafford was the other. Two players that fans are in love with and will not come to terms of seeing CJ in another jersey. The Lions made critical errors and now they have to watch Suh walk to south beach. I've said this before, if the Lions are serious about winning a Superbowl, they need to trade Calvin Johnson.

Ima buddy was just watching nbc evening news and said suh said it was about the money in his presser.. Anyone see this? He didn't say that but it's really what he meant. The question was posed if it was all about the money and he went into a lengthy explanation about being challenged and going somewhere with progressive thinking and the desire to get better. Then he pointed out that every NFL player wants to be rewarded and he liked the idea of that and setting his family up for life.

His new contract has a clause that says if he is suspended one game in 2015 he gives up one game check for almost $58K and if he gets suspended in 2016 he gives up one game check for $1.38M.

I'm not going to begrudge the guy for looking for the best deal, especially on the guaranteed side of things. The only thing I would have hoped for, is to see him seek out more of a balance of money and chance at winning. I do not feel that the Dolphins are any closer to winning/playoffs than the Lions, so that was a little bit of a disappointment.

The NFL is the one sport where I'd never kill a guy for getting all the money he can. The chances of being disabled or mentally fucked up the rest of your life are too high.

I have no issue really with how he handled it. He played out his contract. He took a bigger contract than he was offered by the Lions. If the dollars were the same or he passed on more money from the Lions, then yeah, I can see being offended.
Somewhat the same as Scherzer. He took a bigger offer elsewhere.

I believe if the Lions offer was equal or slightly larger that he was still going to walk. Much larger and I think he would have stayed. The opposite of a hometown discount. No way proving it just a feeling.

As it kind of sinks in, I think more and more blame will fall on Mayhew and Lewand. If the Lions do not make the playoffs (I think they won't), I hope these two will be fired.
Hindsight is 20-20, but now they could have easily offered more than JJ Watt, but less than what Miami offered.

Detroit dodged one here. The guy is a selfish prick. I dont care about the talent. He knew what would happen if he took that contract and to be honest I dont think gave a shit if the defense would be stripped as long as he got his contract. Looking at the presser saying isnt wasnt all about the money was gross.

Mayhew and Lewan dipping out yesterday without even addressing what happened with Suh was ridiculous. All year and off-season they continually went out of their way to make sure everyone knew they were confident Suh would be back and they were doing everything they could. He leaves, and it's silence. Look I am not even that upset anymore about Suh leaving. His presser and The Lions finding a somewhat formidable replacement in Ngata has helped ease that pain. They still need help but in regards to the Suh thing I've moved on. But Mayhew of all people should know the one thing that can really turn this fan base off besides losing is not being accountable (See Millen,Matt). Just say something! It's a playoff win this year or they have to be fired. Even if that means losing the current coaching staff due to a new regime. In fact if the O-line can keep Stafford upright this year it's make or break for him as well. If this year they end up 4-12 I'm hoping they are looking at a complete overhaul, again. Which as a season ticket holder pisses me off.

I can't blame a guy for wanting to get paid. Especially in the NFL but you also notice the teams in play haven't sniffed a Super Bowl for a while now. Those teams aren't looking for this guy.

What are they supposed to say beside they made this best offer and obviously it wasn't enough Just that. Let the media ask their questions and put it to rest. Instead you open this pandora's box by not saying anything and create another shit storm. I seriously question their judgement in all aspects right now and that is scary considering they are operating an NFL Team.
