My buddy, unfortunately, is potentially culpable in this situation as well since he is an RE Attorney as well as an Agent and it is the purpose of the buyers agent to protect the financial interests of the buyer... So he can't represent me. He would have to refer me to a peer. Unfortunately, it will be hard finding an attorney who will take this on contingency. I run the risk of spending $6-20k out of pocket and not winning. However, we are still researching all potential avenues... Ranging from the appraisal, listing agent, sellers, title company and bank.

Anyone ever do the blown insulation in your walls/attic? How costly is that? My house is so drafty and I'm tired of freezing my ass off during the cold ass winters.

I don't know why trex is so expensive.
I think I'm finally done with big house projects.

We did it in our walls during a remodel. Do not recall cost, but rented the blower from he depot and bought their product. It was easy to do and made a massive difference.

So you drilled the holes and blew it in yourself? Did you read about it or buy a book or something before hand?
I've got to do something within the next 2 years. My windows suck, cold air pours through them. I doubt there is any insulation in this house at all. One of those really cold days last month, I found ice on an inside corner wall. I want to do windows, siding, and roof all together sometime in the next 2 years and I want to blow insulation into the walls while the siding is off the house. And redo the stuff in the attic while the roof is off the house.

It was not difficult.

I told the guy to quote me top of the line, and then I could decide to scale back if I wanted to. That price seems right. I just don't think that product should be that expensive in general. I don't think my place does decks, but I didn't ask about it.

We had it in a couple of new constructions then had a company blow in some more into the attic. We used Spink Insulation because that was the company I remember our builder using in a house we owned years ago. If your house is drafty, it may be the windows. Builders use the shittiest wiindows they can find as long as they meet code.

Thank you Supa Hot Fire. How much was your deck per square foot with that company? I've got the guy coming to my place next week to talk turkey.

I see a lot of decks in a lot of people's backyards. After about a decade of the composite decking or fake decking being around, I have to say I like the looks of the real wood decks. And I still see the composite/fake decks mildewing and becoming discolored. If you maintain the wood deck, they look good for a long time.

I can't remember the rate and this thing is impossible to measure because of the shape. We also had him throw in a couple of extras. We had them lay the boards on a slant and add some extra layering to the facing. Similar to the look of siding.

And I still see the composite/fake decks mildewing and becoming discolored. If you maintain the wood deck, they look good for a long time. The problem is no matter what, the floor of a cedar deck is a debacle every year even if you don't walk on it. I wouldn't want to have to strip and stain a floor every year. The railing is usually fine because the railing doesn't take the same amount of abuse. That's why I went with cedar rails with an opaque stain. We've had this deck for 7 or 8 years and we haven't had to repaint the railing. Weve done some touch ups here and there. That's because we didn't complete the job the first go round. You have to keep in mind there are a lot of companies selling composite material. They can't all be the same. Killer deck has some off brand product that has rice hulls instead of wood that they say won't mildew. I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them.

I still have nightmares about my cedar deck.
