I don't follow it closely. How has Ken Holland been, since the salary cap was installed and he can no longer out spend most other teams?
Their record seems to indicate that Holland has struggled since the cap.

He won one cup, one other cup finals I believe. Other than that, playoffs every year with early exit

It was, two, or three, years, after the cap, was in place.

The 3rd period and OT yesterday were very fun to watch. Hopefully they can play with desperation from now on

Yeah, you aren't going to get dick for helm or quincey You would have gotten SOMETHING. And since they should be letting them both go in the offseason, that would have been smart. Ken Holland is not smart.

We're looking at a decade of borderline playoff Detroit sports teams.

Is it that big of deal if they miss the playoffs and break the streak? I'm thinking this team needs a full re-boot.

Blashill's usage of players is baffling. Glendening stinks and gets a ton of minutes. Richards is a disaster and guys like Jurco who have really solid possession numbers don't get a fair chance and put in a position to succeed. Helm gets power play time while Jurco, Athanasiou and even Larkin don't. The defense is really bad and has been for a few years now. Kenny has done nothing besides signing a shell of his former self, Mike Green, to address the defense.

Both Green & Richards were poor signings. Green has looked more like Larry Murphy (the human pylon), then his OLD self. Richards is just plain old & stealing Mr. I's money.

Someone should list the last say, ten, FA signings by Holland. They're almost all total disasters.

And the contracts he has given to ericsson, abdelkader etc. Also Howard and Franzen, when everybody said don't resign both & then overpaid market value on each. Nobody wanted Franzen back and everybody wanted Marian Hossa to be resign. Needless to say Holland's FA signings have been horrible. Who could forget these names: Carlo Colaiacovo, Boyd Devereaux, Fabian Brunnstrom, Derian Hatcher, Jordin Tootoo, Mikael Samuelsson (the 2nd tour), Stephen Weiss, Ray Whitney and of course the irrepressible Uwe Krupp. Also Holland has said, he is not willing to jeopardize the future by trading the Wings youth. Hate to tell you Kenny the future is already here and it's passing you by.

Huge opportunity for the Wings today. Last "4" point game until Philly April 6. Also, with a win today & some help from Babcock's Leafs tonight we could be back into the #3 slot in the division. Would be nice to talk about holding on to the #3 slot in the division rather than wild-card talk.

Athanasiou plays 6:49 while Glendening gets over 17:00 minutes. It just makes no sense.

Last night, (I believe) he drew the penalty Larkin scored on. The game before he scored a breakaway goal. But no, keep playing him on the 4th line for less than 8 minutes a game for a 4th line hustle player (or Helm). I don't mind Glendening as a player for what he is, but he's given far too much run lately.

Athanasiou has drawn the most penalties on the team. In very limited minutes. Opponents have a terrible time dealing with his speed and skill. His points per 60 minutes is among the league leaders. I understand that it is a relatively small sample size but for a team that has trouble scoring goals it really makes no sense. He should be the net front guy on the pp instead of Helm. Or point instead of Richards.
I love that Glendening gets so much credit for blocking shots when he has to block shots because the other team has the puck and is getting a lot of opportunities when he is in the game.
