Didn't leave his feet before contact. I was obviously wrong, but it's a bullshit suspension

it's the correct call take off your red wings coloured glasses.
i will say this, if he had of been given a penalty during the game ( 5 and a game misconduct, i think he would be playing in game 7 )

Rules aren't enforced consistently. That's sort of a problem. The refs aren't even in the same page as the league office. That's before you even look at the inconsistency between the suspensions. Hilarity.

agreed .. but in this individual case, the suspension is correct.

agreed .. but in this individual case, the suspension is correct. I'm not so sure about that. That is a major penalty to suspend someone for a game 7 of the playoffs. I'm sorry, but to get that kind of suspension, it needs to be a truly heinous act, clearly deliberate act to injure a player, and the affected player needs to be out for a game. He came back into that game, and is expected to play tonight. To me, this decision (not the act) is similar to Suh's against Dallas in the NFL playoffs last year, the league/appeal corrected the game suspension, and just gave him a fine.

Anyone that has gotten popped for skating with their head down knows that's the price you pay. I'm sure Tampa doesn't even really think that should be a suspension.

Theres a reason no penalty was called on the ice

It was a charge and a penalty should have been called. Based on other things that have happened this year in the playoffs it should not be a suspension.

i guess red wing homers see it one way ... the rest of the nhl see's it another way
the ref's missed the call on the ice, it happens all of the time, it is a very fast game. if they had of given him a 5 and a game misconduct, i think he would be playing tonight. the principle point of contact was the head, not sure why people can't understand that these are the kinds of hits they are trying to get out of the game. it's not that difficult to understand. I do not agree with the way the league handles most issues similar to this ( ovechkin should get a game for his hit from behind in game 7 against the islanders) , that is why i am saying in this instance, they got it correct. it should not matter that he is missing game 7, the hit deserved a suspension and that's what he got.
having said that, I think the detroit goalie has the ability to out play bishop and maybe the wings win tonight. gotta get 3 past bishop

didnt charge, didnt leave his skates and launch himself, principle point of contact was not the head. no suspension deserved

I actually think we have a better chance with Kindl and Marchenko than we do with Kronwall and Zidlicky. Wings fans don't realize just how awful those two have been this series.

You do realize this shot is significantly after he made contact right?

not sure, don't have a photo of the exact moment ( millisecond), I am sure if there is a single frame you will find it.
was the suspension for hitting to the head with both skates off the ice ?? i wasn't aware of this in the rule book, which rule is it that you have to have both skates off the ice while hitting an opposing player in the head in order to be suspended ?
I'll hang up and listen ....

Which rule defines, in writing, what specifically warrants a suspension. All we have to go on is historical data. I'd love to see any equivalent hit that got a playoff suspension and better yet, one in a game seven. You won't find it

ok, show me the historical data that shows you need to leave you feet while contacting the opposing players in order to get a suspension...

the longer this game goes scoreless, i believe that helps the wings, especially if TB keep taking dumb penalties
