Being outplayed in the second half leads to the Lions losing. The call was huge and yet the Lions had a chance to win and they go pass happy with over 2 mins to play. 20 carries against a terrible defense should be talked about more than the terrible PI call….. So in one statement you criticize the Lions for not scoring more against the 27th ranked pass defense, then you say they didn't run the ball enough? I see you still can't even get your own bullshit straight. So let's look at the numbers. Not counting the final drive of each half (2 minute drill drives where you are only passing) the Lions ran 29 plays in the first half and 19 in the 2nd half. In the first half the Lions ran 12 running plays and 17 pass plays. 1 of the pass plays resulted in an 8 yard run by Stafford, but it was a pass play that was called. In the second half the Lions called 9 running plays and 10 pass plays. So in the 2nd half they got MORE conservative and ran the ball at a HIGHER rate than in the first half. without even looking the play calling was 2:1 per the pass. you call gaining 4 yards a carry going conservative? i call it running the damn ball til the defense proves they can stop it. did you notice the FS/SS playing 15-20 away from the LOS?
42 pass attempts 20 rushing
in a game where the Lions ran the ball very at 4 ypc its no excuse to throw the ball 42 times

I know it's not the special teams fault, but how about that Dallas ( I believe it was their first) punt that almost hit the sideline, then rolled down to the one yard line.
Fox never showed the replay, but I wanted to see it again, and see how close it came to landing out of bounds.

You are including the 2 minute drill drives, which are cases where the run is NOT an option. Take those two drives out and you will see the Lions were far more balanced than 2:1 pass:run. It isn't that hard to figure out.

0-18 after Sunday Cowboys 34 Lions 17 Dez will rip the Lions secondary a new one. It will be funny to see the Lion fans begging to keep Suh after sunday Dez will go off on the Lions, and Demarco Murray is going to run all over Suh and this supposed #2 defense. nope

They had the ball the first time with 2:30+ on the clock and two time outs with the 2 min warning you make the excuses all you want the Lions went pass happy and they lost......
Had they ran the ball 30 times yesterday they wouldve have won....

"To me," Dungy said on "The Dan Patrick Show," Dez Bryant's actions were "worse than the pass-interference call. You can debate the pass-interference call. The helmet rule is plain. And for an official to not have the courage to call that. Dez Bryant is not on the field at the time. He is an offensive player not coming in as a substitute. There is no reason he is out there other than to argue the call with no helmet on. Every official should have thrown a flag at that point. At the very least it should have been another 15-yard penalty. And there is no way you can justify not calling that."

Well Fez Bryant doesn't really have a history, so I guess they just gave him the benefit of the doubt.

Incredible to hear him say the words: The game got too big for them to make the call on Dez.... Wow. You can hear the shock in Hannah Storm's voice after he says it.

Yep, that statement was what really stuck out to me. I don't think anything is rigged or any of that BS. At this point I'm actually not even mad at the refs as much as I am in the NFL. These guys just weren't qualified to be in this position. Of course instead of the NFL stepping up and righting any wrongs they will crawl and hide and the same BS will continue and burn some other team down the line.

You do realize they fucking scored at the end of the first half right? Using that 2 minute offense you're discounting so much. Clock was under a minute when they lost it on downs at the end if the game. They were near the Dallas 40 with 1 timeout left. You can't run the ball there. Fuck man. End of halves are a different animal. It's not line they had the lead and were trying to run out the clock. They were trailing and had to get a touchdown to win.

I more or less meant admitting that those calls were missed and perhaps address the issue by holding refs more accountable. Maybe looking at what Belichick proposed: link

The NFL actually does have a way of righting something like this happening in place. Starting this year, the Command Center n the NFL HQ monitors every game, and has the ability to directly radio into the refs and fix an egregiously missed call.

I was starting to move on... And block this from memory, but I made the mistake of opening this thread. Seeing the NFL Head of Officials Admit that a penalty should have been called per an ESPN news flash a second ago and that Hannah video above just rekindled my anger. 21 fucking years I've been watching this team and praying that they can turn it around since their last playoff win. We come into this game and dominate one of the hottest teams in the NFL, only to have victory stolen by the officials like lunch money on the playground. So fucking furious- especially knowing that we are not guaranteed to get another shot at redemption. Next year.
It pisses me off to no end to see them admit to fûcking up and just say "sorry"... Knowing that all we can do is go kick rocks now. Fuck the NFL

I love how the Lions are often at the center of controversy that ultimately leads to the NFL acknowledging they need to make changes.
