After having to change 2 flat tires in the last month on my truck and using the pos scissor jack that comes with the truck, I want to replace it with a floor jack. I am not sure how much lifting capacity to get though. At the shop I have a 6 ton floor jack that lifts anything. I don't want one that big, it wouldn't fit in the back right. If the truck is about 6000lbs, and if I'm only lifting one wheel at a time, then I should only need about 1/4 the weight of the truck, right? A compact 2 ton jack should be just fine, right?
I bought a cordless impact gun for myself for Christmas. That worked great last night. Getting the spare down isn't hard. Pulling the lugs isn't hard. Jacking the truck up using that stupid jack took forever and was not very safe. I'm sticking a floor jack in the truck instead of that stupid jack. I'm not real interested in being stuck in the dark lifting a 3 ton truck with a sketchy ass jack on the side of the road.

Check Harbor freight. They have really good jacks at decent prices. I can't believe these companies are even allowed to put those cheap ass jacks in cars. They aren't even remotely safe.

That was my plan of action. Just wasn't sure about the capacity part.

not sure how big your truck is but I can't imagine a 1.5 ton wouldn't lift a single wheel without an issue.

Eh, 6k/4 is 1.5 but if so it can't hurt to go 2 ton.

This is what I ended up getting. 3 ton bottle jack, can extend up to 21 inches. $40 at tractor supply.
