I'm not a sour fan. I've tried 4 or 5 times. Just can't do it. Just dipping my toes in the water on the sours'. My girlfriend is a HUGE sour fan. Main reason we're going. Plus we're catching a Keith Urban concert while there. I've tasted a few sours she's nuts over & I just can't do em. Tasted a couple that I can deal with. Hopefully can find some that aren't overly sour but have enough flavor to activate the taste buds in a positive way!
Just made plans to go up to Crystal Mountain for Beer & Brats Fest this Saturday. The usual Michigan Brewery suspects. Most were present for the World Expo of Beer in Frankenmuth last weekend. Of course this time I can sample some of those that I missed last weekend!

I haven't read every page, so this may have been asked... Any Untappd users here? We can share usernames to add each other's latest beer exploits. I'm slowly creeping my way up to number 700. I just got back from the UP and hit up Tahquamenon Falls brewery (yes, they have a brewery at the falls) again. Long drive for some beers ;) BTW....user name is Flintoid on untappd

Sleeman's at one time was selling over here. Red Wagon party store in Rochester or Troy use to carry them, but haven't seen them lately. Another great beer from Canada is La Fin Du Monde, brewed by Unibroue in Quebec. Sleeman bought Unibroue in 2004, then Sleeman's was bought out by Sapporo a Japanese brewer in 2006.

I had Rogue Cold Brew IPA a couple of weeks ago at Lucy and the Wolf in Northville. Excellent beer.

This weekend had 2 different Oktoberfest/Marzen (German-style amber lagers) Noble Chaos from Shorts & Bloktoberfest from Atwater. The very slight nod goes Chaos, but both were very good beers. Bloktoberfest is one of Atwater's better beers and highly recommended with a giant pretzel from their Pub.

The wife dragged me to Art Prize in Grand Rapids this past weekend. A little boring for me, but it was a nice day and I like the city. We stopped at Brewery Vivant, beer was pretty good and food was very good. Vivant kind of takes on the Belgian and French inspired beers. Different flavors throughout their beer and they try different type of hops. Check them out someday @ www.breweryvivant.com/. This weekend we are going to Atwaters OKTOBERFEST in Grosse Pointe Park. Will let you know how the beer was.

Fan of the Noble Chaos definitely!! As a rule not a fan of the Atwater beers, so maybe I should check out the Bloktoberfest.

I am not a fan of Atwater either, but their Bloktoberfest is the best beer I have had from there. When I go Saturday for their Oktoberfest, I will definitely be ordering that. Since you like Chaos, you should find Bloktoberfest to your liking. If you don't, then you have my apologies for recommending it in advance.

Never been to Drafting Table, but I should try it one day. Atwater's Oktoberfest was pretty good. Giant pretzel & beer was pretty good. Their Bloktoberfest was very good on draft.

As I have said before Atwater is not my favorite, but I went to GPP Brewery. It is in a old church (great setting), food is ok. Their beer is good, the VJP is pretty good and so is the Bloktoberfest. Some of the other beers are good and some need help. Juicy that might be their D-Light beer, never had it myself.

Roadtrippin' to Odd Side Ales in Grand Haven this weekend. Love em or hate em, they produce some interesting stuff! Well the trip to Odd Side was a bit disappointing. Didn't really have anything on tap that I haven't already tried in a bottle at the local beer store. Some good beers no doubt, but was hoping for a newbie to stir up the taste buds.
But the trip delivered a real gem at the Grand Armory Brewery a couple blocks over from Odd Side. A beer called "Dewey Hill on Fire" stole the show. An Amber Ale with decent hops, flavored with Serrano & Ghost Peppers. Oh man!! Excellent amount of heat with flavor to boot! YES!!

So I thought whatever the Atwater beer was was bad but at our company party last week one of the choices was ghetto blaster I think from Detroit brewing company. That shit was absolutely awful.
Luckily one of the other choices was two hearted so the ghetto blaster went in the trash

We had a corporate outing this summer at a Tiger day game the same day my wife had her outing. Her group actually had a suite. When I went up to meet her team, some lady in the group handed me a can of Ghetto Blaster. I wanted to hurl that can at Rob Parker in the press box. That beer is awful.

I usually stick with the Saugatuck Singapore IPA when ordering up there.

Oh man totally forgot about Ghetto Blaster, we had it at the the Auto Show. One of the worst beers I ever had, did a couple shots to get rid of the taste. This weekend we were at Slows BB-Q had Noble Chaos (very good) and Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest (excellent). Both should go on your lists for must try.
