In the EPL you never know what you are going to get from week to week. Southampton must of made a deal with the devil. In the off-season you sell most of your best players and your coach leaves for another team, but you are in the top 4. Man U spends a fortune on new players and coach, they have trouble keeping a sustainable attack. Liverpool receives a fortune for one player and squanders it all on players that didn't fit the system quite right. Arsenal, & Tottenham all look great one week, next look like dogs. Chelsea & Man City will be the only teams with a chance at title in the end. All these teams will provide theater and saga, in the on going "soap opera" known as the EPL.

That's what makes it the best league in the world.
I hated seeing Southamptons success early on, but I think it lends some validity to Poch and their system, and now Spurs have the head of that as well.
I agree though, the race is now for spots 3 and 4.
Relegation battle should be fun this year though. Leicester is fun to watch, and all England Burnley have been playing well too.

Fraze, it is the best league to follow because of the drama and how the teams have positioned themselves. I follow the Bundesliga and naturally my team, Dortmund, is absolutely screwed. But the bigger problem is that Bayern have bought everything. While they think that is great, this will cripple the Bundesliga for some time. I think the NFL has seen the benefits in parity and other sports are seeing this. It's artificial, but it's the best way to make money. The Bundesliga would do well to learn from the EPL on how to generate drama, which generates dollars, euros, and pounds.
And in the end, it is about money. Glory is a distant second.

Same reason why La Liga is going to have some rough times ahead. Actually, they are even worse because of their money structure.
I follow other leagues and teams too, you have to if you're going to have any idea what's going on in Champions League, WC, etc, but on a week in and week out basis, EPL delivers like no other league, in no other sport.
The tv coverage is also almost exclusively EPL. I would'nt complain if we got more La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, or others though.

I can't see see either ESPN or Fox dedicating so much airtime to the league as NBC does. You really can't ask for much more from them.

Bulldog, I agree with you on NBC. When they first put in that monsterous bid , I thought no way are they going to have a good production. They.proved me wrong. The only thing I miss from FOX was they would have SKY sports from London on and that was great. SKY would cover the EPL and the transfer market like no other. Otherwise NBC announcers are better and their coverage of game day is excellent. Wonder how big of a contract they will offer this time? If the could land either the Spanish or Italian super leagues also, that would be great.

Liverpool has had a very difficult season. As I have said before the players they sign with Suarez money have played horrible. From Lovren, Moreno, Lambert, to Balotelli who have been absolute failures. Others who contributed some, but have had disappointing season: Lallana (injures), to Markovic who started out well, but the last 8 games has disappeared. The last one Javi Manquillo who would be labeled failure, but Rodgers changed his system (again) that doesn't fit the player strengths. Emre Can has had a solid season, except for some moments of losing his composure. The transfer committee of Rodgers and Ian Ayre are terrible, because neither man has proven to be very good at acquiring or evaluation of players. As for Rodgers staying as coach, I am torn. While he has done some great things, a lot of his decisions have been poor. Very frustrating to be "Merseysiders" this year.

WOW!! The amount of $$$ Man City spent on Raheem Sterling is staggering. In my opinion he will be very hard pressed to produce the way MC wants him to. He has talent just not worth that amount of money. Unfortunately Rodgers has not proven he can not buy quality with no matter how much he is given. We will talk in August and see where the team's stack up with the new transfers.

Nobody around anymore to talk EPL or other super leagues? Wife changed our Dish package. Lost most of my sports channels. I do get the Mexican league (en Espanol), so there's that.

Sorry to hear about that. Well EPL is NBC sports channel & the German super league Bundesliga is now Fox. Those 2 channels are on most basic packages, but the price of cable is horrible. So I don't blame your wife for cutting down. Groceries, clothing, & everything else has increased besides our cable or satellite providers. All except our paychecks of course. I should probably save this discussion for the off sports section.
The Manchester's are 1 & 2 in the EPL, but there could be some superise teams competing for the top four spots this season. West Ham is looking very good, even Leicester City looks greatly improved. Unfortunately my Liverpool team is not looking good so far. Speculation is if Rodgers doesn't turn this around he will be gone by January. Bayern Munich & Dortmund are 1 & 2, in the Bundesliga Bayern have a great looking squad again this year. I believe they have a strong chance of winning the Champions league cup this season.

Brendan Rodgers is gone now and Jurgen Klop mania has gripped Liverpool. Hopefully we will see an improved team in the near future.

Leicester City just keep staying top of the table. What an amazing story this could turn out to be. Leicester City winning the EPL would be like, the Mud Hens winning the world series. A small club beating the likes of Man U, Man City, & the rest of the big money clubs is just incredible.

Hell yes, Foxes! I'm an Arsenal fan, but if it can't be us (it rarely is), then good for them.
Just as amazing, how did Spurs finish that game with 11 men?

Give a lot of the credit for Leicester winning the EPL to their coach Claudio Ranieri. He did a masterful job of bringing this unlikely bunch together and winning the championship. Truly unprecedented in this European sport. There hasn't been revenue sharing to speak of, except for the new TV deals. The competitive edge will always favor the big clubs, but this year the glory is on the side of a true underdog.

Absolutely insane. There is nothing in American sports that could compare to this.
It would be like the mud hens winning 100 games and the World Series.
Or like Wayne state making the playoff and winning the football national championship.
