Smith leaving has now transformed Jennings into Isiah Thomas. He was unstoppable last night. Yeah, he was balling last night. I've never seen Fat Pat give his players (particularly his PG's) as much freedom as he has given this team.

I've never seen Fat Pat give his players (particularly his PG's) as much freedom as he has given this team. My buddy and I were talking about this. We always viewed SVG as a big man guru, not a PG guy, but he really seems to have touched a nerve with Jennings, who I've always thought was sort of a selfish player who didn't care about winning. But I know from interviews that Van Gundy is big into the school of layups/dunks, free throws, and three pointers. It seems as simple as telling Jennings "Get to the rim or take threes, and if you can't, pass the ball to someone who can."

And of course Jennings blows his Achilles out. Was that confirmed? It looked a lot more like a broken ankle than achilles. He was holding the front of his leg.

Jennings confirmed he is out at least 6-9 months. This obviously puts a huge damper on this season, because the Pistons looked like they were going to squeak into the playoffs, but it's also going to have a massive effect on the near future of this team. I think this team could have possibly won in the first round of the playoffs, depending on the matchup, but they're obviously a few pieces away from being real contenders, so heading to the lottery again isn't the worst thing in the world. However, as crazy as it may have sounded at the beginning of the year, Jennings was starting to look like a huge piece to build around, and this injury sort of throws his whole career up in the air. Next year is the final season of his contract, and if he comes back from this injury, it's highly unlikely that he's the same player he was before getting hurt. He's only 25, so age is still on his side, but achilles injuries are NOT good for basketball players: And for more optimism, the Top 10 NBA Careers Ruined by Achilles Injuries

Just when I started getting back into the pistons. Hopefully DJ can keep putting up numbers like he did last night.

I like how the pre game slap dicks on 105.1 were basically saying there was no chance the Sixers could beat the surging Pistons. At least we'll end up in the lottery now.

Crazy how valuable Jennings became for this team. Also doesn't help to go 2-20 from three.

You cant trade monroe. Since he accepted the qualifying offer he can veto any trade and if he accepts a trade he would lose his bird rights. The only hope is a sign and trade this offseason, which won't provide much.

It was just as tough replacing those points from the leading scorer.
St nik for Monroe make it happen

He told the pistons to get something done last offseason or we would end up empty handed. Dumping Smith was a last ditch effort to keep him. Its not going to happen he will leave at the end of the year and we will be lucky to get a second round pick.

Doesn't seem like much of a drop off from Jennings to D.J. 25 points, 13 assists, 0 turnovers
