My phone is dying. It's 4 years old, so time for an upgrade.
Sprint just sent me a letter advising that they are instituting an upcharge for Good Technology (e-mail). So...new provider as well.
Anyone have good/bad experiences with phones and providers? I was thinking of going with a no-contract carrier like Virgin or Simple Mobile.
I like the Android platform, and not interested in spending a lot of money, since it is an unreimbursed business expense.
Thanks. I'll hang up and listen.

If money was no issue an iPhone on Verizon is the best you can get.
As for android I really like the LG G2 or G3 (newer and older versions) they run smooth, have amazing resolution and camera on them and better battery than the galaxy series.
Sprint will still probably be the cheapest even with all their odd charges or a phone lease so you just have to decide what you want to pay

I don't want to pay all that money for an iPhone. I really only use the phone for work, which means when I am out of the house/office, and am using the data side less and less. They banned cell phone usage while driving here. I can talk via blue tooth, so that's it. No e-mails while stuck in traffic or at a red light. But I still need that function for when I arrive at my destination. But once there, I usually pop open my laptop. So the e-mail has dropped off considerably. I still need access, but not as much as a few years ago. The more I think about it. I ought to just get a phone only with blue tooth, and a hot spot for my tablet. I have Good on the tablet, too, and like that better because it has more features and easier to read.

I'm sure you could Cricket or something. That's kinda what I'm thinking now. I'm looking at Simple Mobile and an unlocked phone online. On the one hand, the cost of this stuff has gotten out of control. On the otherhand, these devices have more computing power than NASA when they faked the moon landing. I miss my bag phone. Simple, and stylish. And yes, I really used to have one of these.

Hoff, do you (or would you) utilize Navigation from your phone? IF you use it enough that could be a good amount of mobile data that you'd need to account for.
I've never used them but have hard great things about tmobile's prepaid side of things if oyu don't feel like getting locked into a contract.

Either one works without data, i.e. separate GPS receiver that works without wi-fi or cell.

I loved the phone Navi until I got the car Navi with traffic update, works as good as Google and saves my battery plus much bigger screen

Verizon just bought them both back for $200 each through their recycling program. Zero net phone cost. I don't see that changing with the 6 we just bought. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Also call sprint and bitch they always cave This is my tapatalky siggy It's really shady how they handled this. I have an unlimited data plan. They sent a letter saying there is Good Technologies charge on data plans. So if a client sends me an e-mail on Good, there is a charge, but if they send it to Yahoo or Google, there is no upcharge? To even attempt that is garbage. What difference does the platform make if you are supposed to have unlimited data? The fact that they are trying this is enough to drive me to another carrier.

I got mine a dumb phone around age ten, but we don't have a home phone so it kind of took the place of that.

It was originally going to be for another family member to help out but then that person started acting nuts so my daughter made out. Last Christmas just before her 12th birthday we got her the 99ยข iPhone 4S from AT&T.

I thought contracts were basically "done" now for basically all carriers?
I still have an iphone 4s and like it...
I just got my wife an android HTC...She likes it...Its amazing how much more shit you can do on an android than an Iphone...
Im with Verizon..Best service by far..But also, most expensive...

Contracts are done but you "lease" phones and if you don't stay two years you end up paying the balance which is usually more than the ETF used to be

We like the 4 too but I think they are phasing then out. My wife dropped hers and there's cracks all over it. She went to AT&T to upgrade and they told her they don't do 4's anymore. She would have to get a 5 for $99. Right now they don't have a free Apple phone with a contract. I think you have to get a windows phone if you want the 'free' phone.

I'm glad somebody is. I don't like Verizon. I used to have a plan with somebody they bought out and when they took over they treated me very poorly.

He has black market apps or something. He had an app that lets him watch movie quality films and some of them haven't been released yet.
