Any of you going to the Detroit Fall Beer Festival in Eastern Market today or tomorrow? Dropped the ball on this one. Didn't plan ahead. Beautiful looking lineup for sure!

Over the weekend had Chick-a Chick-a Yeah beer, from Oddsides Ales brewery in Grand Haven. This is a wheat beer with a bunch of different ingredients: lemon, lime, berry, orange peel, pear, apple, chamomile, peppercorn, light cinnamon/clove, & few others. My personal opinion the beer was ok, good with food. Just to much going on for me to really enjoy.

Was drinking Sam Adams White Christmas while at football party for UofM game. Easy drinking beer with holiday spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and orange peel.

I bought a sixer of O'Fallons Vanilla Pumpkin Ale for $2.99 at my local liquor store because I assume they ordered way too much in September/October. Took it home, tried it. Ran back up there and bought a case for $10. Deal of the century. 5.7% ABV and delicious!!
Other than that, I've been on a Founders All Day IPA kick for the past 6 months or so.

Has anyone tried the Bad Elf series from Ridgeway Brewery in England. A good friend from London recommended this beer. I haven't tried this and since it is the Christmas season, all of December will be my search for the best Christmas Ale. So if anyone has a good ale in mind for Christmas, LMK and I will try it.

I found a home brew supplier on a new route home. Thinking about stopping in. I have wanted to try home brewing for some time. Any recommendations on what to try making first?

I gave up alcohol for Lent. I've been on the wagon for weeks.

I gave up alcohol for Lent. I've been on the wagon for weeks. If a priest can drink... so can you... you should find more productive options for Lent...

Hoff, kits can be good. Depending if you are willing to wait for the final product. Letting a beer ferment is the key to any process. Most of the guys I know that home brew started with the kits and then moved on to their own home brew system. If you have the patience you can make any style beer.

I did it because my stomach was all screwed up and I was drinking too much. I always find it funny when people become religious then say they quit drinking even though they didn't have a problem. Jesus' first miracle involved an alcoholic beverage.
