If I gotta hear a skirt on a sports commentary she can at least be hot. Mostly, I don't wanna hear the skirt, though.

Mendoza works for ESPN and is currently a member of ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball broadcast team.[4] She also is a color analyst during the Women's College World Series and is a sideline reporter for ESPNU. On June 30, 2014, Mendoza began working as an analyst on ESPN's Baseball Tonight. She appears on the Monday editions of the show.[32] On June 16, 2015, Mendoza became the first female broadcaster in the booth for ESPN's College World Series coverage with Karl Ravech and Kyle Peterson.[33] On August 24, Mendoza was the first female analyst for a Major League Baseball game in the history of ESPN, during a game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Arizona Diamondbacks.[34] Six days later, Mendoza filled in for suspended color commentator Curt Schilling for the Cubs-Dodgers game on Sunday Night Baseball. Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta pitched a no-hitter in the game. John Kruk, Dan Shulman and Mendoza called the 2015 American League Wild Card Game on October 6, and Mendoza became the first female analyst in MLB postseason history.[35][36] On January 13, 2016, ESPN announced that Mendoza would join the Sunday Night Baseball broadcast team full-time.[4]

second-year general manager Al Avila said this: “Changes are coming."
Tigers might have to part with key players through trades, which would certainly change the outlook for the immediate future.
“That’s a tightrope that we have to walk on,” Avila said. “We certainly want to stay competitive, we certainly want to try and get back into the playoffs. But at the same time, this organization has been working way above its means, as far as payroll, for many, many years, and it’s put us in a situation where, quite frankly, it’s very difficult to maneuver.”

Sounds like a fire sale to me. The party's over! Might as well trade Miggy.

Sounds like a fire sale to me. The party's over! Might as well trade Miggy. They won't because he's selling the tickets they're actually selling anymore. If they did that'd take one of the bigger chunks out of the payroll. I don't think that is a palatable deal on the trade market anyway.

Yeah, when I heard that they were trying to trade Justin Upton like two months after they signed him, it seemed pretty clear that Mike Ilitch was no longer running things. Add that to the fact they didn't add anyone at the trade deadline, and they are now looking at shedding tons of payroll, and you have to figure the kids are in charge now, and they are probably looking to get leaner so they can sell the team. Just need to hope they sell to another super fan and not some random business group.

I always enjoy seeing Tigers who didn't pan out here be integral part of other teams success. Just listen to a bit about how Andrew Miller has struck out 56% of the batters he faced in the playoffs and will be the key for the Indians

Andrew Miller didn't pan out here because he was traded for some dude who was kind of good. At least an average player

Not counting his first call-up season it was 6 seasons before he became effective.....so just one of those deals where not sure when the light will go on. Unfortunately, for Tigers....it came on BIG TIME!

Yeah, Miller always had the fastball and that monster slider, but he could never find the plate as a starter, and all three of his pitches played down. I often think about what would have happened in 2014 when the Tigers basically had a deal in place with the Red Sox to get Miller back, but Baltimore came in at the last minute with a better offer.
The Tigers were down 4-3 in the 8th against the Orioles in Game One of the ALDS, with Miller getting 5 outs in the 6th and 7th for Baltimore, before Joba, Soria, and Coke gave up EIGHT runs. And then of course in Game Two they were up 6-3 in the 8th inning when Joba and Soria gave up FOUR runs. Then Miller got another 5 outs in the 7th and 8th in Game Three, and that was all she wrote. Series probably would have looked completely different.

Once Miller got his throwing motion corrected, he became a very good pitcher. The Tigers knew this when they traded him and Maybin, they had him slated for winter ball to work on his mechanics that year.

Chris, I don't believe we will see an owner Mike Ilitch again, he was one of a kind. The Tigers & Red Wings will be run like any other business now, it's about the bottom line. It's almost like when George Steinbrenner's children took over the Yankees. They became very machine like as an organization. They have been devoid of passion since George died and of course championships.

The Tigers have agreed to trade outfielder Cameron Maybin to the Los Angeles Angels, who will exercise his $9 million option for 2017, Fox Sports is reporting.
The Tigers will receive a right-handed minor league pitcher Victor Alcantara for Maybin, according to ESPN's Buster Olney.

The blood letting begins. Who is next, Verlander? If I was Miguel Carbrera I would ask trade me to a team that wants to win.

Understand the contracts for Cabrera and even Victor's would be hard to move, but I was looking at from Miguel's point of view. Some coworkers believe it will be JD or Verlander are the next to go, a friend of mine said he would bet Kinsler was next. The Tigers did say the want to cut 25 million, I wonder who is next?

I'd try to keep JD and I wouldn't be surprised if Kinsler goes too. JV has to ok a trade. Upton played pretty well so I'm sure somebody would want him on a 1 year tryout deal. He only has a year left right?

Do you think the Tigers can get a DH on the open market for less than what they pay Victor Martinez?
