Of the 12 teams in the playoff, 11 have top 12 scoring defenses. The team outside of the top 12 is Washington, who is 17th.
According to Dave Birkett the Lions didn't formally request an interview with McClay (Dallas) but will be interviewing Trent Kirschner (Seattle) this week. I am a big fan of him.

I don't really care for him so no. More of a thanks for applying than a screw you.

Is Calvin retiring?

I think his body is just beat up. I have always felt that because of his size his career would be shortened since the only way to take him down is to go low on him.

Caldwell never makes him practice and he knows they're going to come ask him to restructure. I bet he stays if Caldwell does and potentially leaves if Caldwell is gone

Calvin is getting married in June. Maybe he wants to be able to run around with his future kids someday.

I guess TFoss was right earlier this week. I thought he was talking out of his ass. That would solve the cap issue.
I betcha all the talk about him being cut next year doesn't help much.

Won't solve anything. If someone retires, everything guaranteed is accelerated into the year they retire, so 2016 would still be an issue

Won't solve anything. If someone retires, everything guaranteed is accelerated into the year they retire, so 2016 would still be an issue His cap number next year is 24 Million. If he retires and the dead money accelerates to 2016, the total hit is about $13 Million, so it would free up 11 Million in space.

I believe there was still guaranteed money in 2017 that would also accelerate to 2016 as well

So the two best players in franchise history would have retired by 30. Both probably for the same reasons.

I don't think its the same reasons at all

At least he is giving notice and not going out like Barry did. I have felt for a few years that he wasnt healthy and even though his numbers are still good he has often been a decoy. I lean towards the injury factor but there is a chance that a new coach might be the final deciding factor for him. The players seem to like Caldwell like the veteran Tiger players supported Ausmus

To not screw the team by doing it in training camp.

So tell the team, why do it publicly?
