If they don't get the oline figured out, it's going to be a very, very, very long year. Lucas looks lost out there. that play in the second quarter where he stood up with his hands at his waist and got out of the way so the de had a free run to drill staffdong was pretty solid.

He had multiple plays where he didn't engage the guy who ended up making the defensive stop. No chip, no nothing. Never apparently touched them. bleepin' horrible.

Waddle was in uniform, I have no idea why he didnt go in.
This team is lost.. I dont really understand why, unlike past years, they have talent. Theyre playing worthy of another 0-16 campaign

Theyre playing worthy of another 0-16 campaign I knoy why and it falls at the feet of the OC. The game is too fast and he cant adjust properly. He can't call a good game and his Qb is just flat out terrible. The o-line has always been bad even last year the line was bad. Stafford cant make the throws that will force defenses to play more of a coverage scheme, instead the defense blitz the house non-stop because they know Stafford cant make the throws......

Theyre playing worthy of another 0-16 campaign The defense shouldn't be that bad. Yes Suh is gone and Levy is out but Ngata isn't that much of a downgrade. There is almost no excuse for the offense with it's weapons. It's nuts. The line is bad right now and Stafford can't do it all himself. We've already established he's not Aaron Rodgers and he's not making the #6 guy look like the #2 guy. Hopefully he's not too hurt to play or we'll be fighting for the #1 pick.

There isn't a lot to say. I agree that the step down from Suh to Ngata isn't huge, but the step from Levy to Bynes is cavernous.
I said last week that Lombardi is a terrible OC and he still hasn't done anything to prove me wrong. Stafford is just above average. That's it. Right now this team is "stuck" with him. With all of the new money from the TV deal and based on what some of the other QBs around the league are getting, his contract is workable. After this year he has 2 years left on the deal. I would not extend him out, and the Lions are in a position where they don't need to. At the end of those 2 years if he has figured it out, you have the option of tagging him and working out a deal. Otherwise, if another team called and wanted him I would not hang up the phone. Even with him on the roster and locked up for 2-4 years, taking a QB in the first round is not off the table if you think that QB is a franchise QB.
Last year I said the Lions had to look outside the organization for a RT, which is still accurate. Waddle can't stay healthy and Lucas is hot garbage.
As of right now, 2015 is starting to look a LOT like 2012. If that happens I think that there is a better than 50% shot that Mayhew gets let go.

Must suck for season ticket holders. Can't even have false hope for one game.

Why are people constantly blowing Suh? Unless he can start taking snaps at Qb that was the only way he wouldve helped the Lions yesterday. Miami defense isnt looking like a top 10 defense with the addition of Suh and his 18m per........

The problems on offense all start with the Oline. Until you get that up to just sucking, they're screwed.
They don't even appear to realize whom they're supposed to block or when. They can't even run a decent screen pass right now.
I don't know who's out there, but they better find someone to come in and solidify that right side. If they don't, we'll get to find out who's 5th, 6th, and 7th on the QB depth chart. Stafford will not last the first half of the next game vs the Broncos.

It'd be kind of Liony to beat Denver and Seattle on the road and then lose the next eight straight games.

Did the people brought in to 'fix' Stafford give him an offense that doesn't play to his strengths?

I want to get your opinions on this. I have a buddy that said last year, was the year to evaluate Stafford. He claimed that it was year 6, and if he didn't get a playoff win, that was it for him. He had the defense and all the surrounding pieces to make something happen.
But last year was such an aberration. In a way, he did get a playoff win, the referee took that win away from Stafford and the Lions.

Stafford is a middle of the pack QB. After this year he has two years left on his deal, which 3-4 years ago were insane cap numbers but are no more manageable. I would let him play out those years and not extend him from there. If things do start to really turn on for him, you can always hit him with the franchise tag. That gives the team 4 years of control over him right now. So right now I would not throw him to the garbage pile, but if I had an opportunity to draft a new "franchise QB" I think that I would.

The Lions are built similar to the Tigers. Some nice high end talent but too many glaring holes. It will be interesting to see how the Jets end up this year with a solid all around team and Fitzpatrick.

It will be interesting to see how the Jets end up this year with a solid all around team and Fitzpatrick. Yep, too much money wrapped up in Stafford and Calvin. This is why Seattle was so successful (along with excellent drafting) they had very little money wrapped up into Russell Wilson. Now that he re-signed for big bucks, we are starting to see the cracks and the money become an issue. The New England Patriots and Green Bay Packers are a good example on how to do it. It's fine to have a big money guy, so long as it's someone at the key position (QB), and they truly are a great player. The rest of the team, the money is pretty evenly spread around.

The cracks in Seattle started less with Wilson and more with the guys on defense that started getting paid. They hit on picks like Earl Thomas, RW, and Wagner. Then they play a defensive system where they hold on every play, but only get called 10% of the time.
