I think for sure the red wings want him back. They would be silly not to How can he seriously come back, after this whirlwind tour of NHL clubs? Just seems odd to me, that the Wings have NOT made the big commitment, and he's out shopping himself around. I thought they were talking in the news that Babcock has been offered a new 4 yr deal several times. How is that not a big commitment? Big money too.

Well, if it was big enough, why is he interviewing with other clubs. Why not just take the deal?

what do you consider "big money " ? Regardless of money or number of years, obviously Babcock didn't accept their offer (sounds like there were two offers). I'm just saying, how does he come back now?

Why cant it be feasible that holland made an offer and told him "you have XX days to accept, go shop around if you like and let us know by XX date"

I just don't see it being a good situation if he stays in Detroit. They know he was looking, and he knows they weren't over the moon thrilled with him.

The Wings have offered him a contract multiple times. They want him back. He knows they want him back.
This is solely Babcock trying to figure out what he wants to do.

I think Babcock is fine but im not sure why or how he is considered the best coach in the nhlbwithout question. His teams haven't done shit since 2009. Is it because of the Olympics?

exactly. wants to shop a bit to see what people are offering, get a feel for other organizations and decide if he wants to stay or go

This whole thing is strange. I kind of think Babcock needs to gtfo. I don't see him as a great coach.

I thinking we're veering far too close to 49ers fan territory of "Jim Harbaugh can leave any time now." There's no doubt Babcock is a very good coach and he hasn't been given much help by Kenny since Hossa in '09... I'm not saying I'd want him for anything close to 5M per year, but let's not pretend he's Dave Lewis and that the Wings will be better without him. If the Wings improve next year, it will be because of the talent of the young kids is coming up, not because Babcock isn't behind the bench.

I think you somehow just created a double strawman. I don't think the majority of 9'er fans are happy Harbaugh is gone, and I don't think most Wings fans think BABCOCK is Dave Lewis.
I don't think they will ultimately match a price tag like that. While I'd be fine with BABCOCK staying, I don't think it would hurt to bring the young guy in with the way this roster is trending more towards young players.

Are people mad about Babcock leaving? I am not doing backflips about it, but it was time for a break up and I am fine with that.

10 years in one place is a long time and I dont blame him for grabbing that kind of cash. I am fine with the whole thing.
