it's one thing to be rough at this point, and another for kids who have been playing football for awhile to seem incapable of blocking anyone. ever.

I was there, and all I can say is they could have Harbaugh, Saban, Dantonio and Urban as coaches, and they still won't be able to overcome the talent deficiency on this team. Oline cannot block, WRs have no speed and cannot hold onto a ball. They just ran off their starting center from last year. Blocking was bad, but they still do not have a RB that knows how to hit a hole, nor can accelerate.
Defense looked OK, against a crap offense. So take what you want from that.

Defense was good last year, I expect them to be good again. Offense will turn into a game management situation til he can get some players

I like that there is no spring hype this year. That's no accident.

I didn't get to see the game but this wasn't a game where the first unit defense played against the first unit offense. My understanding is it was a draft, meaning you would have a walk on playing next to a starter. In that format, you have to fill out a team the best way you can. I would think it would be difficult to judge position groups if there weren't full units of starters or projected starters playing together.

Hope the D and special teams are well above average..still though seems like most of the prognosticators are saying 7-8 wins so its not like expectations are high for this year.

Watching the game, I came away with the opinion a lot of you have. The offense is not going to be great and the defense will be the strength of the team. The one player I feel is going to have a breakout year is DE Lawrence Marshall. Yes he went against a poor OL, but he has the makings of a top notch DE. Hopefully he will continue to get better, because they need an outside terror.

We've only had too small fast guys and too big slow guys at DE since Brandon Graham.

Yeah, there's really not a whole lot to take away from that game. I agree that Marshall looked impressive, as did just about everyone in the secondary. Any talk of Malzone being ahead of Morris is foolish, I think. I still expect Rudock to win the job, but Morris has an absolute cannon and made a lot of nice throws in the game. Still has some issues with touch, but I think things are starting to click for him.

However, as I said, I thought he made some nice strides in that department at the spring game. I tried to embed some video but it was a disaster. Maybe I'll do it later.

The defense is always ahead of the offense in these games. I'm not worried.
