Cut Bush yesterday. Roll with Riddick and Joique. Fix the OL, need a G and a T.
I don't know what you do on the dline. I think you have franchise Suh. Maye you can get Fairley back cheaper because of the injury? Probably have to draft another interior DL one way or the other. Man Aaron Donald would look good right now. Still need probably two players in the secondary and some other LB to play with Levy.

I dont see how they franchise a guy for 26 mil, they'd have to find a way to clear 17-18 mil just to get everyone else signed including draft picks

I haven't really had a chance to start looking into all the potential off season and draft moves since The Lions were actually playing for something all year. Normally I can start that process in mid-November.
It's going to be really interesting to see how this off-season plays out. For the first time I can ever remember The Lions have Free Agents other teams will covet as well as a Coordinator other teams will look at as a Head Coach.

I dont think austin goes anywhere.. hasnt done it long enough. there are enough other candidates to fill those jobs.. Bowles is ahead of him too, so is Gase.. Add in Rex Ryan, Tressman, Marrone, etc.. I think he takes interviews, but doesnt go anywhere.
On a side note, after a stud draft in 2013.. The Xanders talk has cooled

Mike Tomlin was a cordinator for one year before the Steelers hired him.
Gase is more of a product of Manning.
Trestman is going to be an OC somewhere next year.
Marrone will take the Jets job.
Rex will end up in either Atlanta or SF, although I think that SF is a better fit for him.
That leaves the Raiders, Buffalo, Bears, and either SF or Atlanta (wherever Rex doesn't go), and I can easily see Austin getting one of those jobs.

We will see. Obviously I hope he stays. You have to find a way to keep Suh. He is the jenga piece to that entire defense.

What I think thecouncil was getting at is that the Lions should have drafted him instead of Ebron. I am on board with that. When the pick was made I wanted either Donald, Odell Beckham, or Ebron, with Ebron being a distant 3rd. As long as it wasn't Taylor Lewan I would have been happy.

The Xanders talk has cooled I agree with you on Austin as well. The Lions need to upgrade on the O-Line. They need a RT and Guard. Hopefully Swanson isn't a consistent injury risk and is ready to step in at Center. If they are able to get some guys in FA and/or Draft I think they can push some of the guys whom they had to plug in as starters at times this year back onto the bench for much needed Depth. Regardless O-Line, in my opinion, was the biggest issue this year. I also think they could use another RB and WR but neither will be necessities. My biggest concern is the lack of Depth at RB if Joique were to go down next year. I think Bush is gone so that leaves Riddick and Wynn as it stands right now. No thanks. On Defense they need DT obviously and CB. I also wouldn't mind seeing another DE to build depth there. I think Mathis, while he has played beyond what I ever expected, is not the answer and is old. For the first time in a while I'm all for taking a CB early if the cards fall that way. With Slay developing into a nice player and if The Lions can have another good pass rush, they can afford to groom another CB.

Of course.. I think that day, most of us wanted Donald, even without him playing a down yet and the promise of Ebron being the next stud TE

Aaron Donald was the guy I wanted and that pick is going to bother me for a long long time. I won't sit here and pretend like I wanted OBJ because I didn't but if at the time they would have taken him I would have been less upset then I was with that Ebron pick.

I've got to be in the minority, but I would like to see Fairley come back with a fair contract. As long as they think the light will stay on.
I'm impressed he's kept his weight down while rehabbing. Would have been real easy to add a couple pounds and just contribute it to the injury affecting his workouts.
They need to keep the concept of their rotation going.

Fairley all depends on what happens with Suh in my opinion.
Bottom line is, if they get Suh back they are going to be in pretty good shape going into next year. They can turn their attention to beefing up the O-Line and addressing the other CB spot.
If Suh leaves that changes things and creates a monster hole in the middle of that D-Line which puts a ton of pressure on the rest of that Defense.

I see Fairley getting a 1 year "prove it" deal, whether it be from the Lions or someone else in the league. Hopefully it is the Lions.

Fuck Suh, move on and use that money for other players. There are a lot of holes, even with getting as far as they did. Oline needs help. DBs need help. Needs to be a draft for depth and positional improvement. The Lions will screw it up and do the old best player available bullshit again.

We need a TE (I wish I wasn't serious) I agree and can't believe I'm saying that but you and I both know they aren't going to draft or bring another one in via FA.

because why use your old te who can't catch, when you have a shiny new one who also can't catch?

The Ebron pick was so annoying when they made it. How can an entire fanbase know your pick is shit but an NFL team can't? Turrible.
