Bought myself some Titleist Pro V1 golf balls. I'm no where near good enough to be hitting these, but it was a good deal for 38.99.
Anyone else use them? I've been reading and these are supposed to be softer, better spin, better distance, etc. I'm curious to see if this improves my game. I've always felt that the pro v1 was for better players, but maybe the better ball will improve a lessor player?

It won't improve your game. Others may tell you otherwise but your first paragraph tells me all I need to know. Work more on your game. For the short game, if you are a high spin player, the ball may help. But when you say you are not good enough to be hitting these, I doubt that. Just keep working and don't waste money on things that won't help. Not trying to come down on you, rather trying to save some coin.

The guys I play with seem to think a softer ball will help. I used to slice a lot, I've improved a lot over the summer, but that slice pops up every now and again.

Hitting a Pro V will not improve your overall game as Chromium said. You might notice some differences in certain aspects of your game using them though - maybe some added distance off the tee, holding the greens on your approach shots better, etc. Some days this might mean a lower score than usual by way of hitting a wedge into a green instead of a 8 iron, or the semi skull actually holds the green versus running over into a trap.
Using them will not change your handicap from a 20 to a 10 though. I pretty much play whatever I win or find and have not noticed any overall difference in playing a $50 dozen versus a $10 dozen ball. Still have to hit it correctly to score.

trying to decide if i want a GPS, a rangefinder, or forget about it because it seems like pacing a distance is accurate enough

i ended up using an app on my phone for a while - was within a couple yards of every reading the boys got from their gps and rangefinders. now i don't even bother with that thing.

hit some titleist ap1 irons today. mysteriously, they were longer, straighter, and had less spin than my irons. and cost $900.
a little skeptical of this trackman business.

callaway razr x's. i liked them, but i think the shafts in the titleists fit me better or something. +6-8 yds. and half the dispersion.

I've always hit tits straighter but 6-8 is a lot on irons.

I think there's something a little psychological about hitting a new club. I always hit stuff better then revert back to a mean.

Does anybody use a driver that is adjustable. Like this one that has sliding split weights: heel for draw, toe for fade, split for maximum stability, centered (and lofts on the shaft)

I have one and have never touched the adjustable feature in 2+years I think I'd be adjusting it all the time, instead of focusing on what is really wrong with my swing.

I'm pretty standard. Tried them at golfsmith and ordered at Edwin watts. I was hitting them pretty pure for not swinging the last 4 months.
