The arbitrator decided that the punishment was too harsh and so he lessened it. Why is that inconsistent?

The arbitrator decided that the punishment was too harsh and so he lessened it. Why is that inconsistent? Because he intentionally tried to injure another player away from the play? Rodgers was on the ground in a defenseless position, and was no where near the ball, or engaged in any act to further the play at that point. Seriously-what was the intent in stepping on him? Give a deep tissue massage with cleats? if you believe this was not intentional (i.e. my feet were to cold), then the penalty should be $0. The arbitrator clearly demonstrated that he did not believe Suh at all by reducing to a fine, and not throwing it out altogether, which was within his power.

I think Suh should get his legs and feet looked at by a vascular doctor. Sounds like he has a circulation issue.

As I understand it, it was because Suh hasn't had any problems in the last 30 or so games, and it 'cleared his record' or something like that, so it wasn't a recurring offense.

Even independent of his record, it was still an intentional attempt to injury a player away from the play. If his record was clean, why was the fine so high at $70K? Isn't this the most he has ever been fined? Seems like the fine scale would reset as well if his past transgressions weren't considered.

I still contend there was no way the first step was intentional.. he was completely off balance. I originally thought that the entire thing was unintentional, especially watching it in real time. These statements from him make me believe the 2nd step was on purpose.. No one is that fucking stupid.. how do you not just say that you were knocked off balance and trying to gain your footing? the frozen foot story is preposterous. even if your foot is frozen, you can tell if youre on the ground or another thing, whatever that thing may be

It was the second step that is the problem.

Maybe his agent knows where he's putting his feet.

I timed it out in real time. The second step was less than 1.5 seconds. Add to that the fact that Lang had his jersey after the first step and it's plausible. The problem with the NFL argument is that they cannot prove intent.

Lots of talk on the various Lions pregames today about franchising Suh. Big mistake, too much money next year.

he cried during his postgame presser...... I'm not sure that's anything more than him realizing a missed opportunity with maybe his best chance to do anything. I don't think it says anything to his feelings about being here. To get the money he wants he'll have to go to a bad team or cripple this one financially.

Lots of talk on the various Lions pregames today about franchising Suh. Big mistake, too much money next year. You franchise him to at least get something back should he go somewhere else. Best case scenario (unlikely) is that you get 2 first round picks back for him. Otherwise you can also trade his rights away for less compensation. Also, since you then have right of first refusal, you are letting another team do your work for you. The Franchise Tag allows you to match any offer the player gets. Because of that, and the fact that the poison pill is essentially banned in the NFL, any team that signs Suh to a contract is doing the Lions a favor.

I doubt this happens, and I wish him luck....fuck that......enjoy losing flicker on the J E T S , Jets, Fucking, Suck.

Signing Suh keeps them closer to super bowl, problem is, it doesnt allow for improving anywhere else but through the draft.

Giving Suh a contract compairable to Watt or McCoy with a defense that still has a few needs is just being desperate IMO.
You could easily take that money spread across the entire defense and be a better unit, instead of having a great DL with an subpar secondary.

According to PFF rankings Rashean Mathis ranked 12th overall among CBs and Slay ranked 19th.
Among Safties Glover Quin was their 3rd ranked Safety and James Ihedigbo was 14th.
