Funchess is gone - declaring for the draft. It's tough to imagine him succeeding at the NFL level unless he plays way more physical than he did this year... That may have just been apathy though.

So apparently Funchess is entering the NFL draft. Was this discussed as a possibility?

What I dont see is SF trading him to Oakland, they are going to trade him to a team that might share the same building in a year or so.

He's hiring Bo Pelini to run Youngstown State's football team. Tressel is the president of YSU now. He's also got a show cause on him - he can't coach without special permission from the NCAA until '16.

I think this news that they reached out to Les Miles, means Harbaugh told UM no over the weekend.
It's what most of us had predicted, that Jim wants that Superbowl ring.
I'm fine with Les Miles, and would really love to see him bring in Bo Pelini has is defensive coordinator.

I'm fine with Les Miles, and would really love to see him bring in Bo Pelini has is defensive coordinator. I think it's more a matter of formality so they don't upset the small group of former players who are super loyal to Les. I imagine they reached out in the same capacity they reached out to David Cutcliffe. The story that Cutcliffe was offered, and declined, is silly. Michigan has a search firm trying to winnow down candidates...they probably started with like 40 names, and have been contacting people just to gauge their interest. Cutcliffe and Miles are both on that list, and contacting them is just a part of narrowing the focus. There's zero chance Cutcliffe had a legitimate offer to be the coach...but he and his agent can certainly make it known that he was named as a candidate, and he declined. He'll get a raise in the next week.

Bacon mentioned that all sides are heading into a "dark period," whatever that means (http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/clip/10929709/john-u-bacon-on-michigan). So my guess is that Michigan took their top 6-8 options, and formally "reached out" to them all at once to cover their bases. Just like the Duke coach that Gil Brandt tweeted today turned down Michigan (which I have a hard time believing), it was probably less of an offer and more of a "hey, would you be interested in this job?" inquiry. And because everyone else is doing it, here's my coaching big board: 1. Jim Harbaugh 2. Bob Stoops 3. Tom Herman 4. Les Miles 5. ...?

There is one for recruiting, but in the interview, Bacon seems to suggest there is one also for the search committee... I don't really know though.

@mortreport: To be clear, there has been zero contact between Michigan and Duke’s David Cutcliffe. No third party contact, even through search firm
