I mean this is getting to be brutal
We need to bring in some snipers. I don't know the stats but it seems like every other game we are in a shootout and I have only seen them win 1 this year.
What the hell is going on.
Also NHL fucking get rid of this shit. It changes come playoffs so why even have it.

How do you not practice that shit? It looks like Howard just doesn't give a fuck about the shootout.

They know they are cooked before they even take the first shot. Worse body language ever. Anytime the NHL wants to kill this stupidity is still too late.
The NHL is the only major league that has different values in its games ... Some are worth 3 points, some 2. What a joke.

This goes back to last season, and perhaps more, doesn't it?

The book is out on Howard. Low blocker and head fake 5 hole. He needs to get much more agressive in the shootout, everyone is shooting on him. That being said the shootout is a farce. If it had little effect on the outcome of seasons I would understand, but teams miss the playoffs because of this joke. Imagine after the first ot in hoops we just went to a three point contest because we didn't want the game to go on all night. Or after the 10th inning we just had a quick home run derby because we don't want to be out all night at a game. Just another way the NHL has gotten everything wrong under Mr Bettman.

Shootout Point/Counterpoint. While I am onboard with dumping the shootout, most fans reasoning is shaky. While you criticize the league for settling the game in a "skills" competition (which I find valid) & using the other leagues as a comparative, I find it interesting that most WANT to continue the 4 on 4 for five minutes, then go to a 3 on 3 for some sort of extra time after that. Isn't this akin to the NFL going 7 on 7 during OT, or the NBA going Gus Macker 3 on 3? Something to chew on.
This is what I will say about the shootout. The excitement of a breakaway is breathtaking, and when the shootouts originally began that excitement came with it. Player picks up the puck at center ice gaining speed as he entered the zone & either fired away or went with the deke & attempted to flip it past the goaltender.
Todays shootouts look like this.....player picks up the puck at center ice, I run to the hot dog stand as the player sways from 1 side of the ice to other. I return to my seat with hot dog in hand as the shooter FINALLY reaches the area about 4 feet in front of the crease & proceeds to stick handle 3 more times before pirouetting & launching some sort of shot. Insert golf clap here for either shooter or goaltender. How about some sort of shot clock for the shooter?
NOW, if the Wings record in shootouts was flip flopped would we REALLY be bitching?

They should change it to arm wrestling to decide the outcome. It is just as arbitrary.

your reasoning is strange. Is there instances of 4 on 4 and 3 on 3 that can naturally occur in a game? Yes. 7 on 7 in football? Nope. Keep the spirit of the game alive in ot.

for the record, i find the need for "more exciting overtime hockey" to the point of removing players just as stupid. there is nothing wrong with a tie, and the idea that ties are what prevent people from watching hockey is even more stupider.

I think they should play OT 8v8 with garbage bins as the goaltenders

It's kinda not funny at this point. It's going to cost them seeding in the playoffs.

what's funny is that excuse for an attempt by z. clearly these dudes do not take it that seriously. not that i blame them, but yeah - lots of points that could be helpful later.

If they were just average at this bullshit they would have 4 or so more points. I guarantee 4 points will matter at the end. This has been going on for years too. It's fucking dumb.

I'm a stick handling master. They should bring me in exclusively to take penalties. I can bust out the triple deke and the wrist fake spin backhand top shelf.

This is where the whole massive blob goalie theory might make sense. Sign a goalie that weighs 1,000 lbs. and just stick him in there for shootouts.

for instance, I follow the habs, they have a new guy on the team this year, the mother f'er won 2 games for them in shoot outs this year( the 3rd shooter ), before he scored his first goal of the season.

And that's why shootouts are robdiddy. I would hate to dilute a team just to account for the nonsense.

Again., I follow the habs, they have Max Patch ( he played for the wolverines ) scored 39 goals last year, very skilled player. he hasnt taken 1 SO this year, he is more of a shooter , as opposed to a more shifty / creative player, I think that is more of what is needed for a SO, quick shifty moves
