Well my thought is that SVG's offense is best run when the big commands a double team and is able to make the right read to the open shooter. Monroe fits that bill perfectly. He can score in the post if you single cover him and is a very good and willing passer. He also is a great rebounder. He may not be a superstar but he fits the philosophy perfectly IMO. Money will help make the decision easier. Drummond is still on his rookie deal while Monroe will fetch 12M+ (probably closer to 14). That will allow them to have more cap room this summer. With Drummond's extension looming next yr it will be important to maximize what they get this summer. Just hope they can get something for Monroe. That's a very good point. Drummond is getting better at passing, but he's nowhere near as good as Monroe, and he certainly doesn't command a double team at this point in his career. Is a sign-and-trade the only option left to get something for Moose?

IT used to be that the player could get the 5th year and full max salary if he opts for a S&T. That has been eliminated IIRC. The only reason for one now would be if Moose decides to go to a team that is at or above the cap.

Seeing Toronto fans invade The Palace is really getting old, even if they (The Pistons) aren't a very good team. Although I guess I'm a hypocrite because I am not making the hour trek out to The Palace to watch Pistons vs Raptors on a Tuesday night. Glad The Pistons pulled it off.

Can't remember a pro squad that was more of a #ChaosTeam - these guys can beat anyone at any time, and lose to anyone at any time. Jackson really does seem to be fitting in better now, though, which is really important. In the last 5 games he's averaging 20.2 ppg, 12.2 apg, and 6.0 rpg on 46% shooting. Those are top-5 PG numbers, and that's the sort of player you can build around.

I've never seen him as a PG that can set up others very well.

I've never seen him as a PG that can set up others very well. That's been the most surprising aspect of his game to me. He's done a real good job of finding open shooters and working the pick-and-roll with Drummond, and he's super impressive at looking up court and sending outlet passes to anyone who released and is behind the D. Some nice examples in the video

Wont be popular but I think it should be Drummond instead of Moose who leaves It's a really interesting and difficult choice. On the one hand you have a below-the-rim PF/C who can't reliably shoot from outside of 12 feet or so, but has every trick in the book to score in the low post, and is a very good rebounder. On the other hand you have a monstrously athletic PF/C who may be one of the best offensive rebounders the league has seen in decades, but can't reliably shoot from outside of a foot, and is remarkably raw in all fundamental aspects. Monroe is who he is at this point. Drummond still has a lot of upside, but he's been very, very slow to add new aspects to his game. I think when you really look at it, neither guy is the sort of player around whom you can build a championship squad, so they have to figure out who will be the better complementary player for what kind of team they want in the future. My guess is it's Drummond, because he's more of a traditional center while Monroe is more of a traditional PF, and SVG really wants that stretch 4. lol every trick in the book. Too bad those tricks don't work in crunch time or against top competition. Not to mention Monroe may be the worst pick and roll defender in the nba. Monroe is not a pf he is a center which is why him and Drummond barely play together.

KCP is one of the streakiest players I've ever seen. If he's off, he goes like 4-19 and misses everything badly. If he's on, he'll drop 7 threes and 30 points in like 20 minutes. Way more off than on lately.

I really don't get how anyone that's played organized basketball, let alone NBA basketball, does this.

It's against all basketball instincts. Its like grabbing the ball, running, and forgetting to dribble.
