So are the Pistons better off re-signing Monroe and signing somebody like Draymond Green in the offseason? I assume they can't do both.

Only watched the second half unfortunately. Couldn't do anything offensively. Jackson definitely looks like a better long term option than Jennings. Seems like a much more complete player.

After watching the last 2 games I think they are better off letting him go based on what he will get paid. He looked like he was struggling to keep up the pace yesterday both offensively and defensively and it's clear Stan wants them to pick up the pace. I like him as a player but based on cost and this system I don't love him.

It's clear the Pistons biggest issue is they can't score. That drought yesterday in the 2nd half was tough to watch and when you have guys like Anthony Tolliver tossing up 3's you are in trouble. Jackson to Drummond looks promising and I love what SVG is doing so far. They just need to really find some scoring this off season.

I was only able to watch the first quarter last night, so I missed the scoring drought, but it seems like scoring hasn't really been a huge issue so far this year. I think the team is set at PG, SG, and C for the immediate future. Monroe does a lot of really good things (although his best skill is yelling "and one" every time he shoots), but I feel like SVG wants a more versatile 4 who can step out and take threes. The biggest weakness at this point is at SF...don't think Tayshaun, Caron Butler, and Cartier Martin are gonna cut it.

I was at the game last night and holy crap -- the Pistons bench is poop. KCP was as streaky as ever, Tayshaun forgot how to shoot free throws while he was away, and Monroe was the only Piston who seemed to be able to score with consistency. The problem is that he is a liability almost everywhere else on the court.
Love Reggie Jackson though. Once him and Andre gain some familiarity with each other, it's going to be scary.

I'd be very surprised if he brought Monroe back. It would be a mistake IMO but it would not surprise me. His system is 4 out 1 in. The problem is until Drummond develops any sort of offensive game, he will not force double teams. Honestly, they would be better running that system with Monroe as the C.

rest in peace earl lloyd...... I met him in the early 90's when he worked at the Bing Group. I had no idea who he was at the time. Pretty amazing that he was the first black player in the NBA.

I missed that the Pistons signed Shawne Williams. Can't hurt to have more outside shooting.

Not really sure how to react to the fact that Dinwiddie outplayed Reggie Jackson by a significant margin on Saturday. I'm taking it as a positive, because I figure Jackson is still getting acclimated to the system. Dinwiddie was awesome though. The most impressive thing was at the very end of the game when he realized he had Nene on him, ordered everyone to spread out, and then just took it right to the rack for a layup. Looked like a 5-year vet.
And in case you missed it, here he is

Dinwiddie looks like a character from Semi-Pro. That isn't a bad thing.

I really like Dinwiddie. Almost wish they had used the package to get some other position instead of Jackson.

So porn stache appears to have destroyed the team with this trade.

I'm not sure about that, but I do think Jackson's inability to consistently hit jumpers has created some severe spacing issues. At this point they are better off losing anyway, but I'm not sure if Jackson is gonna work as their PG going forward. He has a lot of skills, and he's a much better passer than I realized, but he's not gonna fit here unless he can hit more outside shots. Of course it took Jennings almost two months to click with SVG, so this could still just be a feeling out process.

First win in 11 games, and I don't think it was a coincidence that Reggie Jackson had his best game as a Piston with Monroe out of the game (and out of the paint) and Tolliver/Williams in as another shooter. If they're committed to Jackson, they need to let Moose go and find a legit stretch 4.

Wont be popular but I think it should be Drummond instead of Moose who leaves It's a really interesting and difficult choice. On the one hand you have a below-the-rim PF/C who can't reliably shoot from outside of 12 feet or so, but has every trick in the book to score in the low post, and is a very good rebounder. On the other hand you have a monstrously athletic PF/C who may be one of the best offensive rebounders the league has seen in decades, but can't reliably shoot from outside of a foot, and is remarkably raw in all fundamental aspects. Monroe is who he is at this point. Drummond still has a lot of upside, but he's been very, very slow to add new aspects to his game. I think when you really look at it, neither guy is the sort of player around whom you can build a championship squad, so they have to figure out who will be the better complementary player for what kind of team they want in the future. My guess is it's Drummond, because he's more of a traditional center while Monroe is more of a traditional PF, and SVG really wants that stretch 4.

Well my thought is that SVG's offense is best run when the big commands a double team and is able to make the right read to the open shooter. Monroe fits that bill perfectly. He can score in the post if you single cover him and is a very good and willing passer. He also is a great rebounder. He may not be a superstar but he fits the philosophy perfectly IMO.
Money will help make the decision easier. Drummond is still on his rookie deal while Monroe will fetch 12M+ (probably closer to 14). That will allow them to have more cap room this summer. With Drummond's extension looming next yr it will be important to maximize what they get this summer.
Just hope they can get something for Monroe.
