Drummond has plenty of time to develop though, the dude just turned 21 in August. Pegging him now is a little unfair, besides it's not like he has the best veterans around him to help him grow into his abilities. That's exactly what the Pistons need actually, a league vet not named Josh Smith that can show the young guys the ropes and how to maximize their potential. Even Monroe is only 24. Basically the Pistons need Kobe. I just want management to take time with the young guys and not make rash decisions early without letting players develop. That's why I killed them when they traded Brandon Knight when he was only 21 because "He's not a true point and will probably top out as a 3rd guard that can't shoot great." Now the dude is on a tear and Milwaukee is the surprise team of the East. We should've known better than to trade with John Hammond. Actually we all probably did, but of course Dumars was clueless #Goodshill I agree and wouldn't suggest trading him. The only issue is with all this "future superstar" stuff he will be asking for a max deal next season. Especially with the big cap jump that is coming, he will ask for a mint. Do you pay that much money for an unfinished product that you have doubts about?

wonder what the point of that deal is? I know Tolliver likes to shoot 3s now so maybe FP thinks he fits their offense but this moves goes opposite of his getting young guys minutes spiel that he spoke about when cutting Josh

Same thing Joe was criticized for. More importantly, that is exactly opposite what Fat Pat claimed his reasoning for releasing Josh. He said he wanted to give the younger guys an opportunity to find out what they were.

I'm guessing Mitchell was never gonna get time anyway, and the "playing our young guys" line was just lip service to explain why they released an anchor. It sounds like the Suns are gonna release Mitchell anyway, so it doesn't seem like that big of a deal. And Tolliver is a career 35% shooter from three, so it seems SVG is still desperately trying to spread the floor.

So now the Pistons are playing better. Is it wrong that I was kind of hoping they'd tank and get a high draft pick?

Rick Carlisle is a believer: The former Pistons coached called his ex-team one of the best in the NBA right now after sweeping a two-game Texas trip.
